And as witnessed in California, NOBODY does the disparity thing better than liberal/socialist progressives.

Perhaps nothing undermines the narrative of the California “comeback” more than the state’s rising inequality. A recent Pew study found California’s urban areas over-represented among the metro area where the middle class is shrinking most rapidly. California now is home of over 30% of United States’ welfare recipients, and almost 25% of Californians are in poverty when the cost of living is factored in, the highest rate in the country.

California is, indeed, a bellwether of the national trend with peculiar circumstances attributable to its being a large, diverse state. It's high-tech success has not spread the wealth around: https://calmatters.org/articles/inc...ink-it-does-and-why-that-may-be-a-good-thing/

Probably has a lot to do with warm weather and proximity to immigration.

Right wing Florida has the second highest COL adjusted poverty rate, according to the same study.

We have a similar issue in S FL with foreign property investment. The concept of snowbirds has taken on new meaning. People from up north owning condos or 2nd homes and visiting for the winter months was always amusing. But now you have loads of foreign owned homes remaining empty or being used for Airbnb. Fancy places with rich kids renting it for weekends having parties causing disturbances.

In general down here there are too many homes being rented to people who technically can’t afford to own and it’s disturbing. You move into a neighborhood to trust your neighbors. Get to know them. But there are so many who dont give a crap because they’re not invested. You don’t really know who they are because they’re renters. Here one year. Gone the next. And when they’re in a different class/financial bracket with lots of “visitors”, it gets worrisome. Our former neighbors caught some of these “guests” poking around in their backyard after a party. We live in a much nicer neighborhood now but the issue still persists. An overabundance of renters who just have little interest in being neighbors.

If you believe that your "progressive agendas" have been spreading throughout America and are responsible for the growing disparity in the distribution of wealth for decades, that is an ideological article of faith that you are free to hold.

I don't just believe it, the facts prove it. As central government policy and regulation hammered away at the middle class for decades, Progressives in California and elsewhere have sped up the process, although they try to suggest otherwise.

For example, consider Illinois. One can plot a tit for tat policy duplication between the two states. Progressives controlling California for years and years pass certain laws and regulations, and Illinois follows suit.

Both states are facing economic doom. The only thing propping up California is Silicon Valley, and Hollywood. A downturn in either will set off a chain reaction that will be devastating. Illinois is failing faster because it lacks that large industry base to exploit.

If you never even intend to use a house, I see no reason to consider it yours because you forked over cash so you could hoard it

You understand the very dark road you're advocating? Do we want the government to tell people how to use their homes?

No question there are foreign nationals buying property for the reasons you've mentioned. But that has nothing to do with the greater picture.

Legal limits don't confine the powers of government, riots do. They won't do anything they think we'll riot over and they will do everything else. I'm skeptical of legalistic theories of power

Well, good luck with your riots. I'm just hoping the collapse of California brought about by Progressive polices doesn't take place for another 6 years. Then my business here will be complete, and I will be gone for good.

Maybe some Chinese of Russian millionaire will buy up my beach front home.

happened during the Obama administration? The middle class has been shrinking since the Reagan trickle down revolution. More and more wealth is being transferred to the richest 1%. Obama had nothing to do with it, other than continuing the same policies.

I'm hoping for the collapse of everything, mate. It's bound to happen and the sooner it does the easier it'll be to recover from.

the wealth gap and middle class decimation is a direct result of the republican "trickle down" supply side economics.

Hm, I haven't gotten my check yet from the republicans. How frequently do they send money to the richest 1%?

Globalization, foreign entanglements, treaties, and Big Government cause no end of problems for the average working person.

    Fantasy.

When you import masses of people from the third world, and you force out productive people in the middle class and upper middle class with high taxes, you're left with devastation.

When one files a tax return, one pays taxes. One doesn't receive a check from the republicans that is money taken from the middle class.
