I doubt that, but losing football would not be a bad thing considering how damaging we now know it can be to our children
This !!!! Good lord.....The NFL is the biggest sport in the country, and the right wing is all masterbatory in their love of Trump that they believe that they can take the NFL down........
Who would have thought in the National Divorce that Liberals would get Football in the settlement. lol....
Ummmm . . . they do appear to be bringing down the NFL so far as the season's profits are concerned. It is a business and the NFL is not in the business of losing money over Stupid Stuff such as overpaid and over pampered and over indulged players disrespecting anthem and flag on company time. It's called the economics of capitalism . . . which is apparently something else that leftists really . . . really . . . hate.
The Av's have had some bad seasons, but I never have seen rotund, beer-gut paunches like the one below on any NHL Hockey player.... I'm not picking on one guy, or one team -- look at at the linesmen on nearly any NFL team. I don't think anybody could even stay up on ice skates with a gut like this one.... No, it ain't 'protective padding'....
I'm done with the NFL for a while now, even if they stop kneeling. They may not feel the pressure from just myself, but I'm sure I'm not alone in sitting this one for this season and then some.
Because of the kneeling, MLB now leads as the nation's most watched sport. I'm personally going to keep watching the NFL because I love my team and I grew up 5 miles from the stadium, but I don't blame others who stopped. This kneeling crap is ruining the NFL, literally. I look forward to the kneelers continued struggles with people caring. People cared for one day. Just one. Now no one cares again and ratings are in the crapper
Exactly. I don't even know what the Saints's record is. I don't care anymore. Damn, and just that I've got Phil Collins's song stuck in my head.
Not so fast... POLITICS | FACT CHECK Are N.F.L. Ratings ‘Way Down,’ as Trump Says? Not Exactly During his recent social media fusillade against the N.F.L. and its players, President Trump claimed that ratings for football games were “way down,” except during pregame shows “when people tune in to see whether or not our country will be disrespected!” But data released Tuesday contradicts Mr. Trump’s point. Ratings for the N.F.L.’s Week 3 games — the first played since he suggested players who don’t stand for the national anthem should be fired — actually increased by 3 percent from last year, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Viewership did decline during three Sunday games, but increased in the 1 p.m. slot on CBS as well as during Thursday Night Football. Monday night’s game, between the Dallas Cowboys and the Arizona Cardinals, spiked 63 percent in viewership from last year when the game shared the same time slot as the first presidential debate. A White House spokesman referred The Times to viewership increases in pregame shows, so Mr. Trump has a point that his comments may have had an impact. Austin Karp, the assistant managing editor of SportsBusiness Daily, said it was too early to know what football’s viewership trends would look like this year. He noted that there were “lots of moving parts.” For instance, he said that the first week of games was “heavily affected by Hurricane Irma TV coverage, leading to a drop in ratings for the N.F.L. to start the season.” There’s a larger trend of a decline in linear television viewership to factor in as well. Ratings have been declining for most broadcasters for years now. Live sports coverage has somewhat bucked this trend. And among American audiences, football still commands more viewers than just about any other sport. Mr. Karp noted that both NBC’s Sunday Night Football, which declined by 15 percent from last year, and CBS’s Sunday games both averaged more viewers than the last 11 iterations of the Daytona 500 for Nascar, which Mr. Trump notably praised and contrasted with the N.F.L. on Twitter. Both analysts are skeptical that backlash to players taking a knee during the national anthem is driving the decline, given that the trend began before the former San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s first demonstration during the 2016 season. “I’ve seen little to no evidence of viewers tuning out due to kneeling or not kneeling,” Mr. Karp said. Ultimately, “people tune into sports for the sport,” Mr. Lewis said. Or, as my colleague Kevin Draper, a sports reporter for The Times has put it: “The unsatisfying truth is that N.F.L. ratings are a Rorschach test, often revealing more about the test taker than the subject.” Read his full report here on the greater trends impacting football viewership beyond this current climate of criticism and protests. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/26/us/politics/fact-check-nfl-ratings-trump.html
Obviously the claim in the title of the OP is complete BS. Nobody (repeat NOBODY) took the claim seriously (to begin with).
The Devils are terrible. They may end up rivaling the NY Giants for the worst team in the NY metropolitan area in 2017-2018.
My team has sucked with high prices for years. They won't suffer, they'll have to pay the players less.
Obviously you don't like football. I bet you represent the core group of people that support the flag kneeling.
The NFL should be able to limp along for a while by paying the players far less, but few mamas will let their babies play football anymore. “The average cost to attend an NFL game in 2016 for a family of four is $503*. But that’s just the average across the league. If you’re going to a Chicago Bears game, that’ll cost your family a whopping $685. And the Washington Redskins or New England Patriots will cost your family over $650 as well.” SPORTSFANS.ORG, Yup, it can cost THAT much to go to a game, THE DANIFESTO, OCT 20, 2016. http://www.sportsfans.orgyup_it_can_cost_that_much_to_go_to_a_game The good old days are gone.
I would normally being watching a game but I'm one of the boycotters. I still watch college, but seeing both the teams I root for are horrible this year, I'm losing interest. This Sunday I watched the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series in Charlotte.
It's good to know that the mass of people who don't like the country's flag being disrespected are regarded as the Trump base.
I'll never forget Leon Lett when you guys played Miami in the snow on Thanksgiving. The headlines in our newspaper said "Leon Lett It Go" Lololol.
We've dealt with that for how long now? Yes it's annoying, but it's tolerable to watch your favorite team. What's not tolerable is watching the people you root for disrespect the country. Nobody turned off football because of its commercials.
That was a rough day lol. He also had a mess up in the Super Bowl when Don Beebee chased him down from behind and knocked the ball out of his hands preventing a touchdown: Edit: this chase down vid reminds me of a better one: Same guy did this:
