Absolutely that person should be charged ... and I understand writing off losses ... but given Trump's lifestyle, you honestly think that he can run for ten years with paying no taxes? As American Citizens, we have obligations to pay for our military - this is basically Trump claiming "bone spurs" for his tax returns.
Ahhhh "The Times calculates that between 2004 and 2018, Mr. Trump made a combined $427.4 million" https://dnyuz.com/2020/09/27/18-revelations-from-a-trove-of-trump-tax-records/ That's 14 years.............................
LSG, this is NOT about him not paying taxes. Its about equality in taxes. Why should you and I pay a non-negotiable 20-30% payroll tax when people such as himself actually pay nothing ? And keep in mind, my taxes get taken before I even see them. Its non-negotiable. Why is a billionaire paying zero taxes ? How does a "billionaire real estate developer" not pay property taxes, or holding taxes on land ? Im all in with you on the government taking taxes. It needs to be seriously revisited. But Trumps taxes are not about the taxes, its about equality in that taxation between the rich and the working class.
Trump had a 50% ownership stake in The Apprentice. It is a media business. They didn't need to cut him a personal paycheck.
Im going to use that. Ill give you credit in the post, but thats just a perfect take on this situation
Prove it was ten consecutive years. All the NYT did was cherry pick a few years. And he pays LOTS of other taxes. Has the IRS charged him with a violation of the tax laws? If not why do you care? Do YOU take all the deductions and credits allowed to you? Do you make sure you do?
UMMMM, yes.....He claimed he made $240 off of it. Paycheck or not, he made $240 million.....where are those taxes ?
The article isn't addressing property tax or payroll tax like Medicare and Soc Sec which employers pay matching funds. We're talking business and personal income tax, which is relatively easy to "make zero" at the end of the day due to tax loopholes and write offs. That isn't Trump's fault. If you want to talk about unfair tax codes, that's a completely different subject for another thread. I'm a Libertarian...and agree with something Rand Paul just re-Tweeted. But again, tax codes and whether Trump "cheated" on taxes are not even the same subject.
LOL Democrats are all in favor of giving Trump more tax loopholes, including Joe Biden. Democrats tax the middle and hand tax money to the rich. Trickle up theory of economics. The SALT tax deduction is a handout to the rich. It should be eliminated not expanded Christopher Pulliam and Richard V. I've already explained a couple ways to have tax-free income. You don't get taxed every year on money you have in the bank which has already been subject to income tax. Sorry, I'm not an online MBA Finance instructor, but it's pretty clear that some folks have zero understanding of basic economics or finance. Buy hey! Vote Democrat 2020! LOL
He’s joked about that before to his daughter. I remember once my father and I were walking down Fifth Avenue and there was a homeless person sitting right outside of Trump Tower and I remember my father pointing to him and saying, ‘You know, that guy has $8 billion more than me,’ because he was in such extreme debt at that point, you know?
So you're just going to deflect every single time you get called out on something? At least you're consistent.
So you're claiming that Trump has the millions that would be required to maintain his lifestyle in regular savings accounts? Nobody does that. Trump had to liquidate some type of holding (stocks, property) something that he would have to pay at least some type of Federal tax on (capital gains at the very least). Unless everything he liquidated was sold at a loss. If that was the case - do we really want this guy running the country?
He can only choose to sell the stuff that can be sold at a loss. He simply could choose to not sell all the things that are making money. This is not hard at all. When you have blind hatred for someone, the result is to assume the worst and often overlook a very simple, obvious solution.
Up to a point ... but we talking about a guy who has at least $30 million a year lifestyle - for ten years straight, the guy claimed no taxable income. Legally, it might work out, but morally? The guy flipping burgers is doing more to pay for our military than Trump.
The rich pay the vast majority of taxes in this country. This has been proven and shown over and over again. Try saying something truthful.....see how it feels.
