We are talking herd mentality here. So no. The leader sets the tone. And the herd is reacting.

Consider me as going against the herd then.(Well, I've always done that in my life but now more than ever.). I think the right thing to do is support the POTUS when he's right, call him out when he's wrong and keep the divisions in our country from growing. I will not do my own insult Rosie O'Donnell impression. I am indeed a better man than "p u s s a y".

Your willingness to equate fascists with Democrats show where you're coming from.

I'm not equating ideology. I'm equating actions. And those actions dictate a response resembling the response you think racists deserve. Do I have something wrong in my reasoning?

They perhaps you shouldn't offer opinions on it. That would certainly be the wiser course.

I have read extensively on Fascism in its many varieties and I am yet to encounter a version that achieves anything positive that cannot be achieved by other, less violent and divisive means. I have the same opinion of Communism. Extremist ideologies offer nothing positive in real world situations. Those who choose to defend or even promote them are quite simply wrong and very possibly bad or even disturbed. Stupid is also an option.

If you are none of these then attempting to defend something you clearly don't understand is difficult to explain. Might be a goof opportunity to take a different path.

Then why do their websites assert they advocate "right wing" politics and oppose the left? And why have so many righties here come running to the defense of Nazis and white supremacists?

I didn't say "represents". I said "is of the left". Nazis and Antifa openly state what side they represent. Don't you believe them?

There are only about 20 threads and 1000 posts to that effect. Feel free to look around a bit.

    Is that relevant?

    Wait, what?

You're conflating dictatorships with fascism. They're different.

And the dictatorship ended up being what destroyed the Roman Republic. It emphatically was NOT an effective form of government for years. It was only used successfully twice and for very short periods of time. Every other time it was the outcome of civil war.

Then your book should be tossed out because it is not helping you. A vigorous opposition to fascism is not fascism. Antifa is essentially about opposing fascism. They are not authoritarian and seeking a "pure" race and dictatorship. Get your values in order!

BUNK. You can't say the things he said and do the things he did and honestly be a Bernie supporter because Bernie's platform is contrary to all that. So shall we believe contradictory words or his actions?

Well his own words said he supported Bernie. I guess you will have to take up with him if that was the truth or not.

His own words also say he liked Trump and his own words were contradictory. Your linked article also said his politics were confused. So, in answer to my question, it looks like you would take a persons contradictory words and ignore what they do. Egad.

The Antifa movement and its foot soldiers can rightfully be categorized as a special-operations unit of the modern Communist Left. The movement's professed mission is to beat back the forces of “fascism,” which it falsely and slanderously equates with conservatism. By drawing that equivalence, Antifa hopes to persuade many Americans to reject their allegedly racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic culture, and to instead embrace Marxism as the only doctrine that is ultimately capable of creating a more perfect society.

Antifa's propensity for using violence as a means of silencing its enemies is particularly significant. Utterly rejecting any notion of a free and open exchange of ideas, the movement views anyone who holds a contrary political perspective as The Enemy that must be crushed by any means necessary. This obvious reality corroborates what Jonah Goldberg points out in Liberal Fascism: the very close relationship that exists between fascism and communism: “Fascism, properly understood, is not a phenomenon of the right at all. Instead, it is, and always has been, a phenomenon of the left. This fact … is obscured in our time by the equally mistaken belief that fascism and communism are opposites. In reality, they are closely related, historical competitors for the same constituents, seeking to dominate and control the same social space. … In terms of their theory and practice, the differences are minimal.”

Thus, in the final analysis, it can accurately be said that the Antifa communists who so passionately denounce fascism, are in fact fascists themselves.

That's an interesting stance after the stances of the left this weekend. Words were more important than actions then.

They are violent, criminal, and they do not support our Constitution. They do not tolerate anyone's rights who disagrees with them. They persecute and terrorize. They are just Brown Shirts of a different stripe, Kode. When I've seen them attack perfectly innocent people, I'm reminded of those old black and white films of 1930s Germany with the Jews being dragged out of their homes and kicked and dragged down the street.

It's the mindset, Kode. There's no difference between them.

The white supremacists suck. The antifa sucks just as much, and they're no better.

What they say should not be taken as truth. Why do you do so? No one here has come to the defense of wh. Post proof.

Why would you believe them? Maybe because you WANT to believe that everyone is either black or white on this subject? The media wants you to believe that...Why be a sheep?

Post proof or pound salt. Your opinion means nothing.

Of course it's relevant. The authorities let it get out of hand and now there is a dead woman. Now the left wants to blame Trump for some comments he made AFTER THE FACT instead of looking at the real time problem....The inaction of Democrat Terry McAuliffe.

Anyone that equates fascists with Democrats is spot on. Antifa is just another word for fascist. The 'anti' is meant to fool the radical, leftist Democrats and their sycophant MSM into thinking they are fighting against fascism when they actually embody fascism. Alas....many limited information fools fall for this ruse.

It's not conceit, I can judge my values versus another person's values and say that I have higher ones. Will that lead me to POTUS? I hope so, though I'm very disappointed in my country. I'm not sure I want the job, if the country cannot unite behind its leader if I dare say something that it doesn't like.

Why are some so worried about whether nazi's or fascists are left wing or right wing. does it really matter? Whether left wing or right wing the extremists on both sides use similar tactics and values. Does making them right wing make it easier for you to lump everyone on the right into those camps? Reading this forum I'd say yes. In the thread where I talked about liberal debate tactics, this is exactly what I was saying, they will bully you with these meaningless labels and try to keep you on the defensive all the while ignoring facts because who cares what a nazi has to say?

BS, it just doesn't conform to your version of fascism. It was effective because the Romans survived. They were, in their early history engaged at least in a war per generation, often outnumbered in situations where cooperation was required and dissent in war punished. Fascism now really means anything the left wants it to be.

A group of people who have peacefully assembled to sport offensive symbols and spout offensive political views does not rise to the level of any sort of crime. Those who opposed them with violent acts are criminals. I do not support neo nazis nor white supremacists but will defend to the death their right to publicly spew their idiotic bile. The actions of these laughable stooges is just an excuse for the extreme left to commit violent acts in the name of equally hateful political views.

And then it's conflated to the actual definition of Fascism, which hurts the cause of reviving it all the moreso. Fascism, in its basic tenant is a Centralized Government, the Singular Unit(the country) as opposed to the individual unit(persons.)

And in spite of that Singularity, we find that the Individuals can better be served in a Singular society, that cares for all equally and promotes equal prosperity to all.
