Which will pretty much guarantee that those schools will remain almost entirely white because there is a huge disparity regarding the funding of lower education in regards to racial make up.

Your response tells me you probably didn’t read the article. The school is mostly Asian students and you are claiming it’s because rich whites are bribing the school. Try again.

The school is majority Asian who also come from mostly lower income school systems. Got any more excuses as to why blacks can’t cut it?

this is a public high school, that said, I would want to know the number that applied, vs number of spots open, how many whites got in, ect..... before I jumped the gun and called it racism

When all that matters is a score why would you need numbers of whom applied?

Considering abortions have outnumbered live births among blacks in NYC in the past, its a wonder there are still enough blacks to count. If the Dems manage to stay in control, pretty soon they'll prob be admitted as endangered species.

It should be like Sidwell Friends in D.C. There's a very high ratio of blacks but your parents have to be prominent with money and you have to have a good Ravenna Profile, whatever that is. 42K tuition.

Everybody else to public schrewel and city universities.

Asian kids are the most discriminated against. Especially at Harvard.

Asian kids are an embarrassment to liberals who want to promote racial descrimination by whites as the cause of poverty in minority communities

I remember when girls couldn’t even apply

Something to consider...how many black kids apply??And one last thing and I know this from experience many of these title one schools, are inferior. I remember when other schools all had computers and we just had a few. I remember so many things that was shocking to me when I went to middle-class schools to observe.

Wrong and wrong. Entrepreneurs and evangelicals (BTW, I'm atheist with a dash of deism) generally support republicans as small businesses survive on lower taxes and lower regulations and Republicans generally have the same moral values to each other.

I agree, but this one offered a reasonable compromise and I try not to judge people by the standards of their peers. Until he shows me dishonesty I will repay him with honesty.

NYC is run by the Upper East Side elite DNC donors...they want to keep minorities in their place.

I have a HUGE problem with tests being the determining factor for entry into a school. It sounds like, in this case, tests are the sole factor. That goes back a long time ago to imperial China, where the Imperial Exam determined whether you could work for the government.

Colleges stopped doing that a long time ago (if they ever did). The SAT/ACT is important, but so are grades, essays, and extracurriculars. The old saw is that colleges will forgive a low test score if there are good grades, but they won't forgive a high test score if there are bad grades.

There needs to be some sort of non-discriminatory method (ie no visual of candidate) of deciding factors. While I agree not everyone tests well (that would be me) practical application of educational subjects can and will be excessively subjective. One examiner's A can be another examiner's F.

So test scores are used on the basis of absolute answers (ie 2+2 = 4) regardless of gender, race, income level or creative mind.

If you're running a college, don't you want to know the backgrounds of the people you're letting in? You can't do that with a racially blind system. Suppose you have candidate A, and Candidate B. Their grades and scores are close, but A scored ten points higher on the SAT. A, however, never had to deal with adversity while B never knew his father and was raised by grandma after mom OD'd. Despite having a lower test score, isn't B the better candidate? Wouldn't you want someone who has had to deal with crises and been tested?

The accreditation agencies guarantee that at least some minimum standards are in place. And colleges look at students holistically, so that no one single factor is determinative.

They have their place. I think they're over-emphasized. I have no problem, though, with proficiency exams required to be certified. I want to be sure the doctor who's operating on me passed his tests.

Did you choose your doctor based on his background and parental concerns or did you choose him/her on knowledge and ability?
