Get over yourself. A kid wrote "*****y eyes" on a receipt to describe a girl that was Asian. I don't know that the kid's racist. Neither do you. If after questioning him I found out differently then I would fire the kid because I would not have an employee that intentionally disrespected a customer. This ain't a national story. You continue desperately parsing words hoping to find something that isn't there. Give it up.
We are making progress. Before you would just slap him upside the head and try to improve his racist character. Now you would fire him. Baby steps.
Actually I've maintained from the start, if he was intentionally being mean to a customer then firing is the right course. I have seen no indication and am doubtful this is the case. That is why I would need to talk to the kid to see what was rattling around in that head.
Not sure how you inferred that from what I wrote, but to be clear there is no 'we' here, you and I aren't partners and I don't care about the kids sins. I'm a businesses man, not a preacher. I would fire him because he's damaging my business, because he lacks essential people skills and necessary knowledge of what's socially acceptable, and because he would be contributing to a work place environment that I don't want for myself or my other employees. You want to fire him on religious principles, well how you manage your business is ... well, your business.
*shrug* That's your opinion ... based on some silly assumptions. My opinion is your policy of tolerating racism would make your business one I'd prefer to neither work at, patronize, nor have in my neighborhood. Good news: we can both get our way. You don't have to work for me and I can express my dissatisfaction on a picket sign until you close your doors.
