Parents Lose Custody of Daughter for Opposing Transgender Medical Treatments

She's probably been watching Jazz on TLC. As a boy turning into a girl, s/he was originally attracted to boys, but has recently found girls attractive. Which raises the question... is a boy transitioning to a girl, but dates girls, a lesbian with extra parts or a heterosexual boy with breasts?

I am a rational person, so I have plenty of rational moments.

 

I've been asking that question for a couple years and no LBGTQXYZ per can answer that. It's messed up.

 

17 years old. An age when kids are emancipated from the parents and/or on their own all the time. If the parents want to jeopardize their relationship with their child at this stage, I tend to think they love their own personal views about what natural and unnatural more than their own child.

 

You can't reassign gender. No amount of surgery will turn that boy into a girl.

Sounds like good parenting to me. There is no such thing as really changing gender, and the suicide rates for these people before and after this Frankenstein surgery and Hormones routine remain high. And honestly why wouldn't they? You have a person with Mental Illness, and your idea of treatment is to serve them up a lie, and a costume.

Sooner or later they realize they are not what they were told they could be, and now aren't even what they used to be.

I realise you're having a lend of me ... but unfortunately there are plenty of parents out there who think it's a good idea to enable what they call 'self expression' but which is really narcissism made worse by the fostering of eccentricity. Every person I've ever met (professionally and personally) who was raised this way is either a) a complete misfit who is unable to function in the real world, or b) so self-absorbed that they are literally toxic to be around.

 

No, the kid is depressed because she's an over indulged brat with mental health issues. This is the parents fault, but at least they're trying to save her now. They probably know the statistics.

No. He was probably always straight, but was encouraged to experiment because he has complete f-wits for parents. The mother in particular, is IMO definitely a candidate for a Munchausens-by-Proxy diagnosis.

They are/were willing to risk losing relationship with her to save her life. As any responsible parent would be.

Indulgence is EXACTLY what the lazy and self-interested parent does. The selfless and responsible parent does the much harder yards of strong guidance.
