You said ALL the progs are saying "if you belong to the NRA, you're basically a murrrrderer."

A better way to frame that argument would be to say something like this...

"Sure. Just remember, if you belong to the NRA, you're basically a murrrrderer. At least some of the progs I have talked to have said that."

or

"Sure. Just remember, if you belong to the NRA, you're basically a murrrrderer. At least some of the progs I've encountered here seem to be saying this."

Neither of those are declarative statements painting ALL the progs with such a broad brush, and doesn't give them the wiggle room to use your own statements against you. They can disagree with those statements all they want, but they can't prove either of those two examples wrong.

Yeah... but you used the phrase All the progs, which can be disproven. I know where you're coming from, and I get the frustration dealing with some of these people, but I try not to give them the ability to use my own statements against me whenever possible. I generally try to use words like "some", or "seems", or I ask questions where there is almost no choice but for the person I am arguing against to answer in the affirmative, or negative, depending on the argument. Like when I posed the scenario of them being okay if they themselves were removed from work and questioned without a lawyer present for a harmless tweet. Nobody has touched it, because to answer in the affirmative would destroy their own arguments that they are okay with, or understand, what the authorities did by going after Kashuv.

And I have to admit, Renee did a good job using my own defensive statements of you against me when you lumped all progressives together after I basically said you haven't done that. You did after I defended you, and she beat me over the head with my defense.

A progressive liberal wants to use the fascist powers of the state to force compliance on the populace to adapt their mislead ideas of social justice. Communists, more or less.

A classical liberal would, for example, encourage and petition wealthy groups to donate funds to the poor by setting up private organizations to that end.

The progressive liberal would just have the government forcibly take the money by fascist means. Higher taxes, confiscations, etc by means of whatever force is necessary.

This is why progressives hate the 1A. It allows us to question authority. That can't be allowed.

This is why progressives hate the 2A. It allows us to resist authority. That can't be allowed.

You see, progressives aren't about gun control. They are simply about making sure the government is heavily armed, and the citizens are defenseless.

They don't want to ban guns, they just want the state to have a monopoly in the usage of force.

So... are you saying you are okay with him being taken out of class, placed in a room without his parents or a lawyer present, and then questioned by the school security officer and a Broward County Deputy over a non threatening tweet? Would you want that to happen to one of your students , or yourself?

Consequences generally arise out of some activity that can be deemed illegal. Pray tell, exactly what activity was engaged in that could be deemed illegal?

I've been called a rightwinger quite a bit just because of my views on guns so it was hard to tell. I consider myself a JFK style of liberal, or classic liberal, which by todays standards is sometimes mistaken for being rightwing by some.

 

Refusing any gun controls is a rightwing stand, I am sure JFK would have supported that
