The Senate won't give him any choice in the matter. When it comes to the Impeachment trial of a president Representatives don't get to hide from cross examination. They will no longer be in control of anything at that point.

And I do not believe he wants that to happen.

The wicked witch of the left will be under the House soon enough.

And judging by their responses in this thread, they seem to think they'll still be in control.

It's going to be hilarious to see their faces if they get to hang their artwork on the Senate fridge.

Of opinion and presumptions and hearsay. The only one that supplied first hand knowledge of what Trump wanted was Sondland and Trump wanted nothing which is backed up by Ron Johnson that heard the same thing before the call.

Yeah, of their own personal opinions. Opinions are not facts. Opinions are like buttholes, everyone has them.

...why? I searched Google and saw nothing. I re-watched her questioning from yesterday (link below) and it strongly suggests she will vote yes.

    *sighs*

Do you truly believe that the witnesses supplied zero first hand information? Really think about your definition of first hand knowledge. Everything that they personally saw and heard is first hand knowledge. If you critically analyze your own assumption, I think you will see that you actually mean, "None of them provided quotes from conversations that they personally had with Donald trump."

And even that would be inaccurate as it relates to Sondland and Hale, (although Hale was not the intended recipient).

Are we still even talking about this?! OF COURSE the Democrats can impeach the president -- and now they've backed themselves so far into the impeachment 'corner', they MUST vote to impeach him! They're "all-in", and there's no alternative! It's been a totally foregone conclusion that they would be ABLE to impeach him, from day-one... all they've ever needed was a simple majority, with no reason, no evidence, and no proof of anything 'wrong' at all! The Constitution says the House can 'impeach' for 'high crimes and misdemeanors'.

Hell, it's a MISDEMEANOR to SPIT ON THE SIDEWALK in a lot of places in the United States. Trump will be impeached -- count on it!

Ah, but then this drama moves to the SENATE, and that's where all this manipulated, subjective, loosey-goosey supposition hits a granite wall!

In the SENATE there must be specific charges, there must be a trial, there must be evidence, there must be proof -- AND, both sides get to speak and make their case without being hammer-locked, strangled, or railroaded with one party's 'procedural' prerogatives and their hand-picked 'experts' to provide testimony.

Thus: the SENATE is where reality starts and the bullshit STOPS....

Prediction: Strike One -- the failed "Russia Collusion" gambit. Strike Two -- the failed assassination attempt against Brett Kavanaugh's appointment to the Supreme Court. STRIKE THREE -- the failed attempt to remove President Donald Trump.

[IMG]. "No, no! You can't subpoena me to testify! I'm too busy running for president!" :roflol:

My mistake, she is the one that claimed that the reason they are rushing this is because they cannot let the election decide who is President. The democrat Jeff Van Drew is the one said he will vote against it unless he sees something new.

They actually seem to think that Nancy and her gang of leftist thugs are going to continue to be able to dictate how things work once the GOP dominated Senate takes over the trial process. Leftists ought to sue their college professors for failing to get across to them precisely HOW the Legislative Branch of government works.

It happens. And yes, that makes sense. He didnt support the procedural vote and he is a freshman congressman representing a district that was last blue in 1994.

I still think you are likely to see some Republicans join the vote on the official articles.

The Senate is not dominated by the GOP, especially when it comes to impeachment because you need a majority and the VP can not act as a tiebreaker. So, at most, the Republicans can lose 2 votes.

In the last impeachment, witnesses gave depositions and excerpts were read on the Senate floor. Multiple GOP senators are casting doubt on the notion that they want live witnesses to testify on the floor of the Senate. And you need a majority to approve any rule.

You will not get a majority to support calling Schiff to testify.

As it relates to Trump, which is what this impeachment is about, they do not have first hand knowledge. This is not an impeachment of Sondland or Hale. Or anyone else. This is about Trump asking a foreign government for help in investigating the Bidens for political gain. And not one person that has testified has been able to testify to that as a fact.

We can also add Volker and Williams to the list of folks who heard directly from Trump.

But all of them testified, first hand, to what they saw happen in and around Ukraine. The fact that those observations were caused by Trump delivering orders to other people does not mean that their testimony is no longer first hand.

If you want more first hand testimony from those who directly spoke with Trump about Ukraine, then join Democrats in demanding that Trump stop stonewalling. They are free to appear and assert executive privilege or Attorney-Client Privilege where appropriate, but they should appear.

Neither of them heard directly from Trump. Sondland was the only one and of course Ron Johnson did too but was not called.

All three (Hale, William's, Volker) were directly able to hear from Trump on phone calls.

Conclusions based on evidence and assumption.
