Which is exactly my point. You, and the op (I think it was someone else), somehow believe that you can take what a handful of rightwingers on a political forum, which is bound to bring the most fringe of politics in, to define what is 1/5 Americans. Yet I'm sure you'd find it wrong for me to take 5-10 Muslims and use that to describe 1/5th of the world.

My experience within the real world has shown me many times that when conservatives speak of compassion that they and I define the word differently.

The "God" of the Bible (as He is generally believed/taught) is "perfect". Of course NO HUMAN being is actually like that; we are not and cannot be THAT "good". I'm certain that the Pope and the rest of the Catholics know that.

HUMAN BEINGS do that. Thus it is helpful to admit the same. You singling-out "Catholics" exclusively as exhibiting that "problem", is just bigoted and clearly unfair.

How are YOU taught to look at other HUMAN beings? Do YOU always toss out ALL that a person represents, due to a single or a few faults?

I think the Pope is being more realistic and practical than I've seen many religious leaders be. Honestly, I'm so very tired of the FAKE and USELESS religion that is often put out here for SHOW. What the Pope is generally suggesting, is "good" (IMO).

Before I ever read a single article or opinion on Conservatives as compared to Jesus Christ, I knew there were 'discrepancies'.

Fact is, Conservatives (many of them, not all) TALK a great religious game... but examine what they mean in what they say and look at what they do, and I'm sure there is a great deal that does not match up to the essence and way of Jesus Christ. Many on the Right, simply need to stop pretending. :(

The HUMAN beings on the Right are just like the HUMAN beings on the Left. ("God" is not going to hand some special religious/moral prize to either side.)

and you think that they in fact believe themselves "superior to all others" and "that they believe all non Christians are immoral, evil, lazy, etc."?

No, but there is a connection between "Jesus is the path to salvation" and "Everyone else will be kept alive forever so they can be tortured eternally". Which is exactly what Evangelicals, baptists etc... believe.

Congratulations, you're actually talking about something which you're theologically ignorant about. Most evangelicals actually believe that the punishment for lost souls is either destruction or separation from God.

And that disconnect I mentioned was what I referred to the whole time, what you found "interesting"
