I don't know that it will never happen. Obama has done some very unprecedented things already. To my knowledge no president has publicly admitted to ordering the assassination of Americans overseas. Guns were transferred to the Mexican drug cartel under Bush but they were really trying to track them and stopped the program when it was obvious that the drug dealers were smarter than the BATF agents. Under Obama he made no attempt to track the weapons and sent thousands across the border for God only knows what reason. Shows all the signs of being an aspiring dictator. So armed drones over our heads that can rain down death on his orders is new but entirely in keeping with his personality. But if you are a loyal Obama supporter unless someone feeds the wrong coordinates into the machine you will have nothing to fear.
Holder is covering his a$$...and that is what concerns me. He and others that are going through confimation could answer directly if they really thought Obama would never do such a thing. I believe they know different. And down the road, they don't want this testimony and other answers they are presenting now, to bite them in the butt. Under the Obama administration, there was a hit ordered in Yemen on a US Citizen. No collateral damage, he was the target. No imminent threat. Hits abroad have been debated, and now we are debating targetting US citizens at home. Not while they are plotting a terrorist attack, but while they are out at a movie with their families. No due process, no attempt to arrest, no imminent danger. I have a huge problem with this, and it is clear to me, that this is unconstitutional. I don't need to dream up all the reasons why Obama would do such a thing, only so the looney left can call me a freak. Reasons are irrelevant. Holder should have stuck with the Constitution on this.
Oh gee...Holder got cornered and finally admitted on record today (sort of, kicking and screaming)....Drone assasinations, or any assasinations on US citizens where threat is not imminant, are unconstitutional! Rand Paul picked the right issue to make a stand on. He is unifying the Democrats and Republicans against Obama on this issue. It's great to see something like this happening again and that there might be some people in the government that care about ALL Americans.
I think the important point is, is that Paulie has found a new way of conservative obstruction & filibuster ... simply stay on the congressional-floor podium and talk all day and all night for days on end so no vote can be held .... I can at least give Paulie credit for that precedence ...
Actually a speaking filibuster is an old school move. This isn't a first time it's happened. The important point is that Republicans and Democrats are unifying finally again on an issue. That's a great break through. Fighting to protect all Americans from both parties? Sounds great to me! Why doesn't it sound good to you? Why do you want to have your fellow citizens murdered because they don't believe in the same politics as you? Why do you support illegal non-combat murders of your fellow Americans? If we take your line of thought all the way down the road, why do you hate America? Why do you place one man, the president, above the country as a whole?
