To a leftist, being patriotic is doing things for your country. Fighting for the international image of the country. Feeling proud when our country does something good. When we are the best at something. In Science, in sports, when we do something for the betterment of human beings all over the world. When we are the example of morals, of democracy, of the best country in the world in everything we do, and the leaders. When we show the world why American exceptionalism is deserved, and not just something we claim for no reason.. The country that everybody respects and looks up to. A right winger couldn't care less about any of that. So long as you hug the American flag. Yeah. leftists do know what being patriotic means.
Officially, after today's game, considered the best female player in the world right now. That makes me proud. Does it not make you proud?
Why should it? I contributed nothing to it and she believes the US is not worthy of her. We have absolutely nothing in common.
I don't. My response was directed to that specific poster. I know what he/she cares about. I simply answered in the same terms they wrote their post.
More people should show their disdain for the USA by being one of the greatest to ever play the game and play for TEAM USA. Have you?
Politicians are known for lying. So, I agree, he is the best. Don't watch the game if you are so upset. BTW - She won the final game with her goal. She has done so the entire tournament. Go TEAM USA.
It had nothing to do with me. In terms of consequences, I have done more for this country than she has.. She just played a game. I am responsible for her freedom to protest.
I wouldn’t go as far as to say that. Some folks need to be periodically reminded that it isn’t the flag that counts. It’s what it stand for.
Rapinoe was refusing to stand and pay respect to the US flag, before Trump was ever elected. This is just about her being selfish and making it all about her. She is wearing USA colors, playing for the USA team, she insults the nation and the people, while using the excuse of her politics and personal feelings to pretend it's all about Trump. If she cannot represent the team on the field and not use it as a vehicle to act out her personal politics and disrespect the nation, then she has no business playing for the US team.
Those are your feelings, feelings which are plainly not based on reality. Understand that she doesn't care about your delusion-based feelings, and neither do we. You're all upset? Too bad. We're not going to go all super-PC and stop stating the plain truth just to spare the delicate feelings of the Trump followers.
Wait until a group of transgenders take over "women's" soccer. Then we'll all see balls move up and down the field.
Exactly! And people have a right to protest when "what it stands for" goes awry. I see no problem in that, and it does not diminish their patriotism one bit.
