So we should just nuke the entire European continent because if we survive this world war they will eventually just start another.

I think Biden made it clear he wanted regime change when he was in Poland.

Why would any of us know what we should do? We are completely ignorant of 99% of the facts available to the people responsible for those decisions.

I am certain that there are plenty of other options.

I am not even convinced that Russia fired the missile that hit Poland. I am inclined to suspect that, but none of us have enough information to know.

So you are saying Europe would not have formed an alliance without America?

I know it has involved us. And yes, the Nuland's of the world are responsible for further muddying our hands in this mess but I apply to the logic of not putting good money after bad. The whole point of the American Revolution was our independence, primarily from the UK but also that of Europe at large. And instead, due to varying circumstances we have fought two world wars in a century in Europe.

And I believe the biggest reason is our inability to put our foot down. Europeans know that when push comes to shove, they can always involve the Americans. The solution to this dependence is not to further encourage it.

Has it been confirmed as a deliberate 'strike' yet?

"...As news first broke of the two reported deaths, U.S. and European officials began scrambling for more information on what happened based on conflicting reports of whether a Russian missile or debris from a Russian missile that was shot down by the Ukrainians fell into Poland.

The difference between a fatal accident caused by falling debris and an intentional Russian military strike on NATO territory is stark: The former could trigger swift condemnations and spotlight the heightened tensions between the alliance and Moscow; the latter could signal a major shift in Russia’s military strategy and put it on a path toward a full-fledged military showdown with NATO.

Several European officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said it was too soon to draw conclusions regarding what happened..."

There's nothing honorable or chivalrous about any of this. This is War and National Defense. And were I commander, I will make the best decisions in the interest of the US, above the interests of the 'international community' and definitely above the interests of the European Union, or 'NATO' and other bodies. i would tell them in no uncertain terms that there's no US interests in any sphere of Europe, and that the US will not be involved in anyway militarily with the conflict.

It's about time they sort out their own mess, without our help.

I’m a Republican and I think Biden is being too weak. The republican name doesn’t represent a position on the Ukraine war

As I clearly stated, I don't suffer fools or foolishness especially those that keep wriggling all over the place like they are lost. NATO is a time proven alliance.

I've always thought the 1914 historical example was more pertinent to this crisis than the boringly and repeatedly mentioned Putin=Hitler.

If we're trying to gin up an excuse to get involved in the war, this seems as good a reason as any. I guess we're going to have to have a draft again. Hopefully they'll start with the people who have the Ukraine flag in their social media bios. Those people seem motivated to get out there and start going hand to hand with the Russkies.

We actually had a missile defense system in Poland a few years ago. Want to guess what happened to it?

If by "we" you mean France, I'm curious to see how well French drones perform over Moscow. Fire away.

You're talking as if NATO is extorting money from member states to pay for the US military. The money demands are for member states to pay for their own military.

I don't know if that is true, that it was a Ukrainian air defense missile. If it is, can you think of any reason the Ukrainians might not want to have notified Poland? I can.

    Not sure if it help.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO_...fense system, and around the Mediterranean Sea.
In 2020, the Aegis Ashore site in Poland had not yet been completed, due to incomplete auxiliary controls for heating, power, and cooling.[35] Missile Defense Agency's Vice Admiral Jon Hill will announce in February 2020 whether another contractor will be required. The Aegis SM-3 Block IB missiles for Poland are already on-site; the Romanian site is operational

    From the article.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates said the new plan still places systems in Poland, the Czech Republic and other countries in the region, though the details are still to be ironed out. The plan calls for a ship-based component and some ground-based interceptors designed to target shorter-range missiles that are less difficult to hit.
