Seen them but never been on one. So what's the point? I'm not supposed to have an opinion on drilling for oil in the arctic ocean until I have been on a platform?

There are risks in standing on principle.

 

There are risks associated with ignorance and immaturity as well.

 

Someone should tell that to the Russians. It should seem pretty obvious that their immaturity and risky behavior(Particularly to the earth) is far greater.

Why is that relevant? You aren't going to run into many folks in the normal world who have spent much time on a drilling rig, production platform, or much of the equipment used to help power the modern world. But the instant they see one off their beaches you can be sure there will be (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)ing and whining involved.

I think there is some dispute over which law applies. The Nazis had the Nuremberg Laws. Did they deserve respect or meet an international standard?

There is a reason for the use of the word "denial", particularly when it applies to drilling in the Arctic. Another way of describing Naziism is corporatism gone insane.

 

No you simply use the term to smear people who disagree with you. The term is used to inferr analogy with the holocaust in order to stifle debate and impugn the morality of those whose viewpoints differ from yours on this issue.

I applaud the folks who go the platform route. The reason we are talking about the issue is because of their audacity and bravery. Demonstrations would have less effect although I think they are another tool.

 

Its a pity because the old communist regime would have simply shot them as the terrorists they are. I've heard they could still get 7 years apiece though which is hopeful, so lets hope they havent updated the gulags with any heating yet

How would they cause the death of an oil worker? Dying for a good cause used to be considered noble. Have we gotten so cynical that we would rather destroy our present earth system and us with it than applaud the folks who are risking their lives to prevent it?

 

These people werent environmentalists but anti capitalist anarchists. Why else would they consider blowing up the rig threreby causing the very environmental disaster they are claiming to be there to try and stop. Lets hope they throw the book at them as an example to other such extremist loons
