Based on the historical record I think it's silly for any back American to stand for that racist song that boasts about white slavers killing their black ancestors who were fighting for their own freedom.
If he was more talented, he never would have lost his job (to a white guy), therefore he never would have sat on the bench and pouted during the National Anthem, thus when he was busted for being an anti-American, he never would have had to think fast and use the only excuse he knew the retards would jump all over and every bit of this would be irrelevant. But he sucks now, so here we are.
Man this guy is just dumb. You know theres tons of things that irk me, and probably everyone else...but sometimes you just have to keep your trap shut and do your job. The guy just doesn't seem to understand this, and keeps screwing himself out of a golden ticket in life. These chances are not given to everyone, and he's too dumb to see that.
This is not about the nation compelling allegiance. Football is a business. These political demonstrations on the part of players are bad for business. The fans (customers) don't like it. Owners don't want anything that pisses off the customers, and the players shouldn't want it either if they value their million dollar pay-checks.
Kaepernick would be a good fit for Seattle's offense, one of the few teams he might do well as a backup. He won't make a lot of money, so why does he want to beat himself up? I figure greed would have won out and some team would have signed Wilson or Bell.
He's removed himself from any position of possible influence at all. Not the brightest stance ever taken.
Nah, kneeling during the national anthem pretty much does mean you hate America and the flag that represents it. These over paid athletes have seven days a week to protest in any number of ways, yet they choose the few moments in which our flag is being honored to prove their hate...
Truth be told though, if he doesn't want history to repeat itself, tell him not to vote Democrat, as they are the party of the Klan, Jim Crow laws and such...
The guy blew two chances. First he opted out of a contract then the Ravens were going to sign him to a backup deal and his stupid "activist" GF had to open her mouth and spew. Imagine that after being called a "slave owner" they backed out.
So angry that all of this got wrapped up in football, but to me it seems like a lot more coincidence than happenstance. Yes, I think the political matters have hurt the NFL, but the NFL has been declining long before any of that happened. People loved it because it was so violent, in the last decade or so as we have learned just how dangerous the sport is over time, less and less young people are playing it. Those young people are grown up (high school grown up) and simply don't care about football like my generation did. This will continue on and on as the sport simply lacks the violence that got it much of its fan base in the first place.. The NFL isn't going to die, but it sure as heck is going to continue to lose fans. My new found dislike/hatred for football runs MUCH deeper and more personal as I am a Chargers fan ..... enough said. But I sure as heck have noticed I am a lot more excited for hockey than football now.
I did notice last season, despite the protests stadiums for certain teams still remained mostly or completely filled even if players of those teams were involved in the week 3 protests. The Packers managed to have a full stadium a lot of the time and they weren't headed to the playoffs at all and they had no Aaron Rodgers. Then the playoffs happened and I saw pretty much every seat filled up in their respective stadiums. Even the Falcons-Rams wildcard game looked full, which is odd because I've heard LA isn't a big football town, regardless of the protests or no protests.
HOME ON THE FRONT RANGE: Local sports store boycotts Nike after Kaepernick ad, sells all Nike gear at 50%. Stephen Martin has owned Prime Time Sports for 21 years but this is the year he’s going to stop selling Nike gear. “It’s probably 40-50% of the store,” Martin said, shrugging. “They are the exclusive dealer of the NFL jerseys, it’s all Nike.” Owner Martin said NFL jersey sales are a huge part of his business. He said he will miss the sales but this is a sacrifice he’s willing to make. “The thing that fired me up the most, that got me motivated to put the sign up and the sale was the last two words of their add, ‘sacrificed everything,’” Martin explained. “He doesn’t know sacrifice, not in my opinion.” Nike’s Reputation Takes A Hit Overall and Across Key Demographics.
LOL: 2018 NFL Kickoff Ratings Lower Than 2017's (Which Were Lower than 2016's) (Which Were Lower Than 2015's) (Which Were Lower Than 2014's) The wages of #Wokeness. With a 13.4/5 in the metered markets, the post-midnight ending game is down 8% from last year’s kickoff of September 7, 2017. In one of the lowest season openers ratingswise and facing portions of a cable news-covered rally by a very NFL critical President Donald Trump, last night's game is not only down from last year, but 2016, 2015 and 2014 – all of which saw successive declines. To add more injury to that, the 2017 8:42 PM ET-starting season opener between the victorious Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots ended up with a weak 7.7/29 rating among adults 18-49 and 21.8 million viewers. That was a double digit decline from 2016 and the worst total audience an opening game had since 2009. At some point there's gonna be a new contract negotiation for player salaries and they're going to wonder why the NFL is telling them that they won't be making as much money now.
