oh, come on now. special treatment is what we all crave. it's why many of us work so hard throughout our lives, to be treated with a little more respect and to gain a bit of an advantage over the rest of the animals. there's nothing wrong with the desire, it's a part of our human nature. if you're willing to put in the effort, there's no reason not to expect a little something extra. the problem arises when some use guilt, deceit or other disreputable tricks to gain that edge.

Serious question. Do you not see the fundamental difference between retreating into your own home , retrieving a gun, and going back to area and firing a shot; and firing a gun you already have in your possession while in the midst of a life and death struggle? A simple yes or no will suffice.

This case got publicity down here as it went down, both for being interesting as it illuminated the finer points of what is, and is not, self-defense/SYG, and because of the seeming harshness of the mandatory sentencing in this case. She might have been better off to have actually shot her ex, which I believe does not illustrate a problem with SYG so much as it does a need to accommodate such as a warning shot.
