I don't want any immigration. But I am right that Liberals support the VISA lottery. How about chain immigration. Are you in favor of that?
I believe in a finite number of yearly immigrants. 500,000....800,000....whatever. citizens should be able to sponsor parents, siblings, and children. As part of the finite number.
While nothing is perfect, it's certainly less than perfect since it was a visa lottery winner who murdered 8 people last year. Perhaps tightening up the requirements would be sufficient: https://travel.state.gov/content/da...ranslations/DV-2017 Instructions and FAQs.pdf
A large labor pool is good for employers, but bad for employees since it drives down wages. Why do you think burger flippers only get minimum wage?
Then let them enter the united states in compliance with the laws, rules, and regulations that are currently in place. Perhaps the united states needs immigrants to grow the economy, but that does not mean it is in need of illegal aliens.
Tell you what. Let's halt immigration until the minimum wage hits $15 an hour due to market forces not legislation. Let's cut down on the inequality between CEO's and their employees. Instead of having a mass of poor people, lets have a burgeoning middle class. Let's stimulate advances in automation and AI to increase the productivity of fewer workers. How about that?
Are the only ideas you find relevant are the ones you already agree with? Please respond to the rest of my comments. What wrong with growing the middle class?
I think I gave pretty good reasons. What do you think of raising the minimum wage through market forces?
Now that is irrelevant. Here's my idea again: Stop immigration to cause the minimum wage to rise to $15. Economic inequality will decrease, the middle class will start growing again. Welfare costs will decline. Automation and AI will be developed to increase the productivity of the workers. Economic growth will be achieved by giving the working and middle classes more stuff rather than growing the number of poor to absorb more stuff. Sounds good to me. What do you think?
It is very simple. People are not going to lose their jobs because we don't have immigrants to take jobs. Unemployed people will get jobs if there are no immigrants. And people will not have their pay cut because companies can't pay immigrants. How is this not good for Americans? (I know how it is not good for Mexicans.)
