If dems hoped they would win back congress, that's out the window now. When you value illegals over your american citizens, something is seriously wrong with you.
Not necessarily. A good many people view this as the Republicans trying to hold innocent people hostage and the Democrats refusing to negotiate with terrorists. Dem supporters are going to naturally adopt that narrative as it is convenient and Republican supporters will adopt the one you hold because it is convenient. This comes down to optics for the unaligned, and the unaligned have a good reason to believe that the Republicans would hold innocent people hostage because their vitrolic hatred of illegal immigration is well known.
I'm on the record and registered Republican and I voted for Trump but it's complicated and I'm worried Trump is going to get out played here. It was a risk we didn't have to take! Look how good our country is doing economically... We need at least a status quo midterms... With our conservative majority it's we that determine what actually gets voted on! Sure the libs can try some BS to block a few items but we control the compromises. Schumer and libs could give two craps about Dreamers! They are trying to shake up the elections in the hopes of getting alot of seats. Maybe a few do care and it's true as well that unless attached to this bill no immigration policy has a snowballs chance to get voted on. Too many far right ******bags in Congress to compromise. So I'm worried. I detest Stephen Miller. No place anywhere near the white house. Why not get our wall and give the libs stupid DACA? It's more than fair. And Trump could have used this to improve his image as a deal maker to our failing Congress. Instead he's tweeting divisiveness. No one should be allowed in DACA with a felony though. I want every felony owning illegal deported. We have enough American criminals we are burdened with. At least the illegals we can kick out.
Republicans should put President Trump's plan for DACA and immigration up for a vote in both the House and Senate NOW. http://www.politicalforum.com/index...-president-trumps-plan-on-immigration.523813/ Whether it passed or failed is irrelevant. At that point, it would be clear the Democrats shut down the government literally to harm Americans and the United States hoping they can pin their destruction of people and the country they cause on the Republicans - with most people understanding at that point the Democrats are deliberately hurting Americans on behalf of non-citizens. It is a LIE that the issue is DACA. The issue is chain migration, which Democrats attach to DACA - the goal of Democrats being to import MILLIONS of people who have very socialist views of government and therefore would vote Democrat.
There are those of us who really don't care about DACA or illegal immigration. Neither is on our list of important issues. In other words if a pollster called and wanted my opinion on DACA or letting the dreamers remain in country, I would answer yes. But it wouldn't influence one bit whom I vote for, whether a candidate is for or against DACA. I just don't care. It isn't on my list of issues. Although I would be counted as being for DACA. Is DACA worth shutting down the government. Heck no. DACA isn't a budget issue, has nothing to do with funding the government and anything that hasn't to do with the budget directly or funding the government shouldn't be part of any budget process. I do think DACA should be brought before congress as a stand alone bill and be voted on. I also think budget matters, money matters are the only thing that should be considered in the budget process. Anything else is pure partisan political grand standing. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. Even the government shutdown doesn't bother me. Although I think everyone in congress ought to be fired for not doing their job and having a budget in place before the 1 Oct deadline. That CR's should never be used. So I fault the Democrats for making DACA part of the budget process and I fault the Republicans for not having the budget in place prior to the beginning of the fiscal year. A pox on both houses so to speak. Get rid of them if they can't do their job.
Keeping up can be hard to do. Roughly 90% of Americans support DACA and the majority of Americans do not support the wall. There would not be a problem if the president represented the American people that he took an oath to do instead of representing his base of kool-aid drinkers.
To far from the elections. American voters want to know what you did last week - not last year. Sad, but true. Trump will have a thousand mini-blow-ups on Twitter between now and the mid-terms to distract from whatever happens this week.
Yup, brad, tell that to Senator Lee and other hard core GOP in the Senate who voted against the bill.
I agree, Americans have mighty short memories. By the time the midterms roll around, most voters will view this shutdown as ancient history. I also think the midterms will be more about Trump's persona than anything of substance. Whether one is for or against most of Trump's policies and his stances on the issues, one just can't get past his obnoxious, egotistical, un-presidential behavior. He grates on people like rough sand paper.
You forget there were republicans who voted with Dems and in addition republicans pretty much run everything..the average American will not be following the story in depth all they will notice is Republicans in charge and chaos..Good Luck with holding the house I think Mueller has different plans for Trump it includes metal bars and soap!. only thing he will be hanging on to is another man's pocket
President Trump should stand his ground so everyone knows exactly who cut off pay to our military personnel, including such as bad-losers, tantrum throwing Lindsey Graham and Rand Paul. It should be law that NO ONE in government can run for president UNLESS the person resigns or their term is expiring. Many states have "resign to run" laws. So should the federal government for presidential races. These tantrum throwing bad losers like Graham, Paul and McCain whose singular purpose is to retaliate against Republicans and/or who beat them in the Presidential election should not be tolerated.
I don't think GOP voters are as dumb and illiterate as Democrats are trying to make them out to be. This shut down is over DACA, nothing more. It's grandstanding by Dems and it's going to bite them.
The Schumer and the DP own the Schumer Shutdown. "Almost as soon as the spending bill failed, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders sent out a statement that said, in part, “Senate Democrats own the Schumer Shutdown. Tonight, they put politics above our national security, military families, vulnerable children, and our country’s ability to serve all Americans. We will not negotiate the status of unlawful immigrants while Democrats hold our lawful citizens hostage over their reckless demands.” NEWSWEEK, GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN: DEMOCRATS BUCK TRUMP, EMBRACE DREAMERS BY ALEXANDER NAZARYAN, 1/20/18. http://www.newsweek.com/federal-government-shutdown-trump-congress-dreamers-786029?yptr=yahoo The DP needs new political consultants.
Naw, they'll just make up a poll claiming they are winning, cheer their inevitable victory, and then throw hysterical tantrums when they lose again.
Yes, but pointing that out does not seem to help them. And I am sure that is what you are trying to do.
No, Trump should be willing to vote for a clean DACA bill and not muddy the waters with crap about a wall and immigration reform.
And there it is. It is NOT about DACA at all like you said. It is about having open borders and allowing all immigrants to vote as I stated.
its not about your "open borders" strawman. Trump has said many times he supports DACA legislation and letting them stay in the USA. i dont support open borders and nor do most Democrats.
It is 100% about open borders and that is what Schumer and Graham brought to the president. "Chain migration."
chain migration doesn't equal open borders. open borders means anyone and everyone can cross the border and apply for citizenship, no questions asked. no one is pushing for that
