Normally I would agree with the sentiment that Americans are stupid but in this case I feel compelled to tell you to go fellate yourself.

    A) I disagree with raising taxes. Why do I disagree with having taxes raised? Because the federal and state government wastes it on stupid crap. They spend it on themselves for raises that they do not deserve. They spend it on their manufactured wars, they spend it on illegal aliens who suck our welfare teet.

It was either last year or 2009 that general electric, Hewlett packard, chase and a few other big companies skipped out on paying millions of dollars in taxes.

So please tell me, ol genius, why should I have to give more of my paycheck away to people who don't deserve it? Why should I have to pay more in tax money when people who make ten times or twenty times the amount of what I make can afford to pay an accountant and lawyer to find them tax loopholes which helps them skip out on paying their share of taxes?

    Moron.

America is the greatest and most powerful country on the face of the Earth. I would say that is a testament to low taxes...There are those (President Obama for instance) that want's US to be more like Europe...taxed to death and mediocre. Sorry, that just ain't American.

My wife and I are barely in the 25% tax bracket, so the earnings on my wife's business are taxed as follows. 25% federal, 9.0% state taxes, 15.3% FICA taxes. Add that up and she pays 49.3% of every dollar of earnings to the government FOR JUST THOSE THREE TAXES. You really think the government should take more?

How much should we be allowed to keep of our own earnings? Can you give us a number that would satisfy you, or do you think 100% is the only amount you could tolerate?

Americans are too stupid even to understand their predicament. We have tried to explain it to them numerous times, but they simply can't comprehend what we are saying, poor things.

I agree with your assessment of government spending and taxing. Here is another tid bit. In Nevada, the second largest industry other than gaming, is Mining. Silver mining in particular. It accounts for over 85% of the USA's silver. The mining industry only paid $120K for permits and only 5% in taxes. And made billions in the past 5 years when silver prices jumped from $8 an oz to over $30 an oz. Now, the gaming industry pays the lions share of all Nevada taxes but they make the lions share of the money and they pay more in state and federal taxes than any other industry in Nevada. But the most taxed industry (highest percent of taxes based on income) goes to the small buisness industry in Nevada where they pay over 15% in State excise taxes and a larger percent for permits and licensing.

Also, Wels Fargo in Las Vegas has been using the Home buisness loophole of making less than $250k per year to be tax exempt. So they did not pay any state taxes in Nevada. Ho do you like them apples.

Other large coporations move thier headquarters to countries that have no taxes and they excape paying any tax to the federal and state governments. That is how they roll.

So for the fools who support tax breaks, they can just do what they do best, be blind to the reality of life and do as they are told.

So you haven't put two and two together? Companies move their business overseas to avoid our aggressive corporate taxation and then you are against reducing taxes. Think about it really hard.

The article doesn't really say. I think it's a moving target but right now the last figure I heard from Obama was $250K. That includes mostly small businesses, ma/pa operations, etc. Those folks who work 24/7 and can't afford fancy tax attorneys. These folks are fleeced up to 50% if their gross income.

The real secret to tax revenue is withdrawal. Where most of the tax money comes from. Honest folks who work at jobs and have their money summarily yanked from their paychecks...OR...actually have to WRITE a check every year to Uncle Sam (most choose withdrawal for obvious reasons). They dutifully do their taxes and 'get money back'.....

No one really understands the tax forms (not even the IRS) and we are told how nasty the IRS can be so it is best to PAY a certified person to 'do their taxes' as most folks do.

yet when we try to reign it back in, spend a little more modestly and financially ground our ability to wage more wasteful and worthless wars... you call us stupid. go figure. it seems to me if we had an insatiable appetite for war and ego, and we were obsessed with having "more more more".... we would just keep raising our debt ceiling without caution and spend spend spend until the lights get shutoff. i think you have shown that you really dont understand Americans at all.

maybe..... just maybe, what youre trying to say is that you hate.... well never mind. im sure it would fall on deaf ears.

The stupidity of America is to reelect any of the politicians that are in office.

Wrong. If you taxed everyone at 100%, it still would not be enough. Medicare, if left unchanged, will in the future lead to obligations exceeding 100 trillion dollars.

    Right. Now you got it.

True, but not true for our corporations.

Your premise is that America- what used to be the greatest nation in the world- should attempt to be like the rest of the world: mediocre.

Sorry we don't want to sell our souls to the majority and destroy man's right to his own happiness like the rest of the world. It really isn't that difficult.

Also, the 1950's weren't that far away. ;)

Ok, well I'll just stick to the accepted definition of civil war, if you don't mind; that being conflict between the peoples of a single nation. Or, if you like, we could extend your quoted definition to include America vs. USSR as an example of a war between spheres of influence.

Thinking that businesses move offshore to escape tax is fantasy. They move offshore to embrace 90% savings on labor expense, no environmental regulation, no saftey standards, no civil rights to put with, no civil responsibilities. Contrary to the belief of some people U.S corporations enjoy an EFFECTIVE tax rate that is the lowest of any industrialized country.. after all the loopholes and kickbacks are included.

E.G take Google.. they paid a 2.4% EFFECTIVE tax rate in 2010
Exxon paid an EFFECTIVE 17.5% from 2008 -2010
GE .. well they dont pay taxs.. they get a tax refund in the end lol.

The list goes on and on.. anybody think this is sustainable? Corporate taxes accounted for 30% of federal collected taxes in the 50's.. present day corporate Taxes account for about 10% of federal collected taxes. You know how all that lost revenue gets displaced?.. you got it sparky.. deficit spending

To sum this all up... You set corporate taxes to 5% and it wouldnt do crap for our economy. You cant compete with offshore places (that pay pennies on the dollar for labor and have no rules or regulations to follow that would interfere with cheap production) with paltry "tax cuts" In order to make taxes an issue in a countries ecomic health.. it has to have a sustainable economy.. thats what is missing here. That economy was sold to the lowest bidder via our government.

Can it get worse? Getting rid of the stranglehold the Republicans and Democrats have on Government would be the best thing that ever happened. They don't believe they are accountable for any of the crap they pull.

Its often been said before . Contrary to the popular myth abt US being a democracy , in practice its a One Party State - Republicans -Democrats ,being two halves of the same party.- not much difference between them, It works as long as the masses believe there's a difference.

    cheers.

    -----

My suggestion is , if you dont wich to increase taxes from the rich/super rich , then sqeeze your politicians till the pips sqeek .
Impose an extra tax on them + - cut their benefits, Most are just smooth talking parasites.

I have never said the US is a democracy. I never said there was a difference in the parties either. I said they all needed to be ousted in favor of people who are not twins sons of different parties.

its funny, you guys love to come here and bash Americans with the venom of a jealous girlfriend. i wonder how many Americans seek out European political forums compared to Europeans posting on American political forums. maybe that's what rubs you so wrong, you're obsessed with us and we just don't care about you?

anyway, this fat (not really lol) stupid American hopes that you guys can eventually find a reason to be proud of whatever your political situation is so that you can stop living vicariously through us. i love the stereotype game, its fun! all Brits have horrible teeth, all frenchies are cowards, all catholic priests are pedophiles, all Christians are crusade supporters! see, i can do it too.

Oh boy...I was just gonna read and enjoy the strip being torn off of Glock-Boy...even though I doubt he'd even noticed...but THIS...deserves this...

Jr. Canada consistently scores higher that the USA in education. But I do feel your pain. Its not pleasant to have to defend your country's intelligence level...to everyone else in the world...

LOL...see Jr.? Its statements like this that make many of us question whether any of you even attended school...

In a nutshell, it works like this:

Taxes are used to finance projects like fixing that bridge in the next Parish that is falling apart. The project employs 20 men and women. Those 20 additional tax payers not only increase the revenues of the government, but also increase the revenues of the local businesses. Thus the local businesses take on a few more employees. This also increases the revenues of the government.

This method also encourages something your country is seriously lacking right now...CASH FLOW!

    Pretty simple huh?

See above...its not a complicated method, and the best part is...ITS PROVEN TO WORK...unlike the "Trickle-Down" BS.

Huh? Dude, that makes no sense. Explain...if you can...how higher taxes means companies have to raise prices. Or are you saying that the force of competition will somehow just magically disappear?

LOL...don't like it when us know-it-all foreigners poke fun at y'all, do ya. Problem is Jr. As you said, the USA IS a Superpower. So everytime one of you gets an idea...WE ALL PAY FOR IT!!!
As for staying on our side of the boarder...do you have any idea how satisfying it is to be called down there to do something none of you 300 some-odd million just don't seem to be able to do?

Not to mention the only country on Earth to have exploded a nuke on other people...go figure...

Oh My...do you froth at the mouth when you type?

    Defend "freedom"???
From who exactly are you defending "freedom"?

First, I'll admit to NOT being a fan of most things American. In fact, popular American culture and values make me sick to the stomach. US militarism gives me projectile vomiting.

THAT SAID...consider what the Americans just admitted to the World.

They tell us that [Earth] is in a period of contraction. Population is bursting the threads...we drill FOUR MILES DOWN for the last of the oil...the middle-class center cannot hold...climate change will no longer support food production for all.

The US just telegraphed that in future ALL must work for a living...there is no more unearned advantage [except for the rich of course, the eternal truth]...and that from this day forward, we are all responsible for the future of those we love. The era of governmet-provided support is going away...and good it is.

For my part, I thank you Americans for leading the way.

Too bad you're too addicted, mal-educated, and media-enslaved to understand what you actually accomplished.

The future is for the slim, smart, aware, and bold.
