This is so silly. This faux shocked outrage. Let me ask you something. If 1+1=3, would you believe it, if you absolutely KNEW it to be a metaphysical fact? If you say no then you don't really accept math, if you say yes then you'd believe nonsense. The question itself is a "gotcha" question, but it's a nonsense "gotcha" question, like what if 1+1=3.

So we're just the ants in the ant farm....and if God wants to pull us out and burn us with a magnifying glass.....we shouldn't question Him?

Crude but apt, I dont think God would do that, but he has the right to do with us as he pleases as his creations. Also it is not unheard of for him to destroy most of us as with the great flood. Also in revelations most of the population will also die so it is ordained to happen again according to scripture.

So let him show up and do it himself. All we get is empty threats, like in Zephaniah.

how is "kill that kid ... I'm not telling you why, but you must obey", and someone admitting they'd respond with "okay", the same as 1 + 1 =3? do you attempt to reduce the impact of it by comparing it to something harmless? what would your motive be, I wonder?

ftr, I am genuinely surprised (and not a little horrified) that some people believe that they would obey such a command.

so which is it, would or wouldn't?

I really do not know, Revelations hints that he will do it again before the second coming of Christ.

do you think perhaps not knowing what a creature is capable of is a red flag to reconsider? or do you not care?

And that, ladies and germs, is how religion short-circuits morality. :D

Since all gods are imaginary you can know him if you imagine it.

    I don't hate anyone.
You confuse my looking down on you, with "hatred".

That has nothing to do with "God's approval"... you know... the claim you made.

    Always moving goalposts....

Besides... Obama said they aren't Muslims.

Why are you calling your president an outright liar?

To me this question is not about faith but a tool to weed out cult members. God would never instruct any of us to commit sins. Period. If a person is raping, murdering and/or harming another it is not God(the true God) instructing them. Evil uses all forms of our society to accomplish it's goal. We are tested by God and I am sure one fails if he or she acts out against the character and nature of the Lord.

These constant off-the-wall questions have me wondering, why do you care? What is so intriguing about believers that consumes you so?

"Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling..."---1 Samuel 15:3

Was that order given by the "true God" or not?

Problem with you question is My GOD would never ask me to do any such thing, hence I would know it is Not HIM doing the asking. The short answer is No.

Very well said! I could have saved myself the trouble had I read through the replies before answering the question myself. Once again, Well Done!

but the story of Abraham is god testing him by telling him to murder his own child.

why does an all seeing all knowing god have to TEST a man he created ?

Because just because a being is powerful, does not mean they must be worshiped. You have a choice in the matter.

Besides, if God could easily snuff out the universe, why is HE asking you to do his dirty work in killing some innocent person? That seems kind of manipulative.

No you don't. Unless your a fundamentalist Muslim.

There are moderate, allegorical interpretations of the Koran, just like there are moderate, allegorical interpretations of the Bible.
