It seems to me that there is some uncertainty about the question
At this stage in the process they are holding hearing to DECIDE whether there is adequate evidence to present Charges to the senate for trial On those charges. Since this is the process defined in the constitution, I can see no possible argument that this is not a legitimate process.

as I said, the senate has the responsibility of deciding the legitimacy of the charges

 

I ask this question in confidence because there is a politicized perspective on this question, meaning that, large numbers of people in different political camps have very different answers to the legitimacy of even having the hearings in the first place. I am most interested in those people who surprise, even though one would expect them to have a certain opinion, they think differently. I am also interested in the reasoning behind supporting the hearings or not; the thought process of why or why not this is appropriate...not just "he did not do it or did it, it's obvious!"

Of course some people would not WANT to have hearings
Some people may feel the charged activities are completely normal

but I have seen no one present a valid argument that the hearings are not legitimate. They are after all proceeding exactly as specified in the constitution. How could that be illegitimate?

How can impropriety be determined without this step
Assessing impropriety is up to the senate

We 100% agree as to the legitimacy and Constitutionality of the impeachment hearings.

The determination on how subjective views on the hearings and the objective statements come into view, over time in the thread from the posters.

Its legitimate. Its not warranted, reasonable, honest, fair or wise, but they are following the letter of the law. Legitimate might be the best one can say about it.

It will also be legitimate when the senate dismisses the entire thing out of hand.

 

The Democrats have a pretty weak case and the Republican defence is maybe slightly stronget.

It's all based on interpretation of actions taken by people not testifying. And the intentions of other people also not testifying.

I think it's highly unlikely that we will ever know the truth of any of it..

 

And it is a company in this cesspool that the DNC uses to investigate hacking of their server. Considering how Russia invaded the country shortly before is it any surprise they blamed Russia for the hack?

 

What about the people who think the impeachment inquiry is illegitimate? You don't seem to understand for a poll to be accurate you don't group two opposing options under a single choice.

Generally speaking, this is a perfect example of why democratically manufactured polls on the issue of impeachment are flawed.

Biden presently holds no government position so impeachment is not an option in his case. If the DOJ has evidence of criminal activity committed by Joe or Hunter Biden, I support a full investigation. However this inquiry is about how Trump, Guiliani, Lev, Igor and Trump’s had appointed “Three Amigos” Sondland, Perry and Volker handled this foreign affairs issue. All of those including Trump should willingly testify under oath if they have nothing to hide. The fact that Trump is ordering those around him with first hand knowledge not to cooperate with this official congressional inquiry indicates consciousness of guilt.

William Weld, George Conway, George Will and many other real conservatives are appalled by what Trump has done. Don’t confuse Trump or his rabid supporters with real conservatives.
