They ALREADY have "Their Own Category".

It is called "Best International Feature Film"

Parasite Won Both Awards. The Category above and Best Picture.

Obviously, if an International Film has Cinematic Merit it should be allowed to compete for Best Picture.

Trump is a Complete IDIOT who has no idea what he is talking about (whether it concerns movies or anything else).

I also find it humorously interesting that Donald Trump doesn't understand a movie called Parasite...

Funny enough, The Departed was a remake of an Asian movie (Internal Affair). So the Academy did give that award to an Asian movie in 2007 ;-)

Absolutely Fantastic Movie, and the win was well-deserved.

But, you do have a point.

Trump's rudimentary 1st-Grade Reading Level might find keeping up with the Subtitles challenging.

interesting that of 20 winners, the best score you gave was a 7 (titanic and argo)

also, correct me if i'm wrong, it was based on a true story, but you think it wasn't believable. that's weird, maybe i need to recheck my info.

Prolly less propaganda stifling creativity in SK. Hollywood&Co have been an arm of progressive globalism for some decades, pumping out ugly PC garbage. Maybe a few years of competing film industry winning all the awards will prompt a return to creativity.

Actually, the best score on your list was American Beauty... THAT was a movie... been 20 plus years (and I've obviously seen it again), but I can still remember thinking at the time that this was what movies should be. That was my midlife crisis movie before I was even in midlife (or in crisis)....

Oh, Argo is BASED on a True Story, but nobody believes that's the way it really went down... Even Affleck said he took some liberties to make it work on screen... The embassy takeover scenes in the beginning are very well done, but I just don't feel the fear those real people probably felt after that day...

For reference, my 5 favorite movies of all time are (in current order, but I move it around from time to time) Apollo 13, The Bridge on the River Kwai, The Shawshank Redemption, Braveheart, and as fate would have it, American Beauty....

Very few movies in this century make my list of "great" movies... if that's Hollywood's fault or mine for getting older, I cannot tell...

Now. Back then, it was an accurate portrayal.

I was in high school in the 70’s and college in the 80’s. I don’t remember any conservative book burning controversies, at least in New York (where I’m from).

Very true. I would have to strain even to find even a couple.

I do agree with the Selection (by many critics groups) of The Tree of Life as the Best Film from 2010-19.

However, I find the decade of 2000-09 much less cut and dried.

I remember that. Too bad its commonplace for the far left to insert BS like that

Really Cubed. Go ahead and prove that. The movie came out in 89. What planet were you living on where the midwest was living in an Inherit the Wind bubble?

Why does the far left always do this? Make up pure BS then expect everyone to buy it?

Throw out a couple of knee jerk liberal generalizations about conservatives in a movie and magically the entire planet goes back in time 40 years

As usual he has no idea what he's talking about. Perhaps the Canadian education system is missing a few decades of history.

Argo and the King's Speech were excellent.

No Country for Old Men was ok

    American Beauty was disturbing

    Gladiator was epic

Titanic I'm proud to say I never saw.

    LOTR, pretty good

yes, sorry, missed american beauty, I loved it as well, so gripping and i'm not sure why.

I never researched Argo, i have a love hate relationship with Ben Afleck, I don't like his delivery, but I've liked him a lot in select movies.

no issues with your top 5, apollo, shawshank, braveheart are likely on mine as well,
(but I'd revise slightly if I gave it deep thought, this is off the cuff thinking)
I'd replace Kwai with Forest Gump (no offense to Kwai, its fantastic)
I'd replace American beauty with harry met sally or perhaps Good will hunting , but AB is probably top 25 ish.

I'd have a super hard time if I took my top 25 list really seriously, I'd be sorting and resorting for hours to be honest because there are so many to choose from, I tend to judge them by my ability/desire to rewatch them, even if i've seen them 5 times.

Titanic is a must watch, very well done, I suggest putting down whatever you are working on, go home and watch it tonight.

we don't talk much, we just snuggle (hehe)
Seriously, Its going to bother me if you don't watch it.

Now every time I see you post something i'm going to have to resist asking "did you watch it yet?"

my wife liked it more than me, to the point where she made me visit one of the titanic museums when we went to Ireland. <that was super boring

steering slightly back on topic, no idea why trump said what he said, his opinion on a movie means nothing to me, just more proof that he rambles on about the wrong stuff at the weirdest times.

I saw it. It's worth a ONE TIME watch. They really blew it out of proportion. It's not some masterpiece

My grandma always said, if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything...

I guess Trump never met my grandma...

I'd have no problem if a cool president said "Congrats to Parasite and SK for giving us this film." - Even if said cool president hadn't seen it or didn't understand it or like it...

I didn't see the movie. Is it about illegals, refugees or welfare queens?

The Oscars wa ost definitely agree with my tastes in movies. Since 2010 I have only seen one film that was nominated for best picture. From past experience if it wins the best picture I will probably not like it.
