And if the Dems are for "open borders" as you've claimed, wouldn't this be wonderful news for them? The border patrol agents that are not getting paid will walk off the job, leaving the border unguarded. Of course you will :clapping::clapping::clapping:

The sun over America looks a hell of a lot different than it did two years ago

That is what Trump supporters wanted and they got it

Border security is important and it needs to be resolved. Chuck Schumer needs to quit being a little hypocrite and to fork over the money for the wall and for the security of our nation. Chuck Schumer does not have American interests at heart, just his own political games that are costing this country billions.

Not to mention that the stock market is probably going to plunge into negative territory and keep falling as long as the shutdown lasts.

Instead of whining and pouting like a snowflake little baby, perhaps Trump should spend the time and energy making Mexico to pay for the wall like he promised.

I'm not sure the shutdown will affect the stock market very much

But Trump has disrupted the world economy enough that China's economy is weakening and the entire global economy is weakening rapidly

It is all about compromise. So far Trump has offered compromises and the Democrats don’t want to compromise.

LOL. China’s economy has been slowing before Trump even entered office. Yours is a weak argument.

According to Pelosi, they should appreciate this time with their families or pursuing their hobbies and dreams.

Apparently there are two threads on this, so I'll just copy my reply to the other one....

The shutdown could be ended just as easily by Democrats as it could by Republicans or Trump.

For what it's worth I agree with Trump about the idea that some things are more important than having your paycheck delayed. This can has been kicked down the road for too long ---- which is why we're in this position now, with migrant caravans making a mockery of our lack of border security and our outdated immigration and asylum system.

Sometimes I'm of the mind that Trump should just say "screw it", decide he's happy as a one term President, and spend the next two years like a bull in a china shop, going after some much-needed big fixes like we've never seem before from the mealy mouthed "I want to be popular" and "I want to be re-elected" crowd.

Figured I’d link to a story since no one has done so as of yet:

Government Shutdown: Trump Suggests It Could Last ‘Months or Even Years’

“WASHINGTON — President Trump threatened on Friday to keep the federal government partially closed for “months or even years” if he does not get money to build a wall along the southern border, but he also expressed optimism he could reach agreement with congressional Democrats within days.”

““I may do it,” he said, flanked by Mr. Pence, Ms. Nielsen and congressional Republican leaders. “We could call a national emergency and build it very quickly. That’s another way to do it. But if we can do it through a negotiated process, that’s better.””

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ny...ts-trump-meeting-government-shutdown.amp.html

Forcing your border security agents to seek work that actually pays them seems like a poor way to maintain border security. I get the feeling he cares more about a promise to his base than he does actually protecting the border.

That was a leading question by one reporter. Trump simply responded to the question as asked.

What makes you think anyone in the shut down is living paycheck to paycheck?

I watched that press venue unfold. I just knew it, dammit I was positive, they would spin it to be what they wanted and not what Trump wanted.

Again: The senate was intended to serve the interests of the state's themselves, as entities, rather than the populace at large.
This is a FEATURE of a bi-cameral legislature, that they do not have to work in lockstep.

Trump is such a fool yet Republican's support him by 88% per recent poll. What does that suggest about Republicans?

If that was the case, he would spend more time to get Mexico to pay for the wall....but alas, we all know he's one lousy negotiator.

I understand that, you are arguing something that I have never said.

I said the branches are not supposed to protect one another.
Do you think the founders intended for the senate leader to hold up legislation by refusing to bring it to a vote because he is trying to protect the executive branch?
