Leaving aside the fact that Baghdad Bob is in fact strongly suspected to being a CIA mole receiving money from the CIA, and that he was used (among other things) to fool the gullible in the US into forgetting and white washing all the lies they had been told in the run up of the Iraqi war, what is irking is the knowledge that you (and many others here) have been saying pretty much the same old for many years about Iran and none of it has transpired.

Whatever happens in case of a war between Iran and the US, if I am around and posting here, I will be reporting the facts as best as I know them. Those who can't handle the facts will engage in the typical tactics.

You seem to be making several assumptions here about what the US knew. Why do you claim this was done "without the US being able to pick up what was being done"? Personally, I'd be very surprised if the USA didn't detect every orbital rocket launch throughout the world.

My assumption is based on past practice, in which the US publicizes any planned launch by Iran to rally pressure against it. The assumption is also based on the fact that none of the US sources listing Iran's different ballistic missile and space launch vehicles had ever mentioned the particular system used in this launch, which many reports explicitly mentioned using a system unknown to western analysts. And, finally, because while the US is certainly able to track rockets that are launched, in this case, it was a bit slow and seemed behind the 8-ball in reporting any details about it (even off record to journalists). But, of course, all what I mentioned don't prove what I said and ultimately they simply inform my assumption. That assumption, based on my view of Trump's boasting and relationship with telling the truth, isn't significantly affected by his comments in a news conference were he actually went out of the way to claim the US knew everything about the launch. But I recognize that Trump actually said the opposite of what I am saying about US knowledge about it when he was asked about the launch.

    Undoubtedly.

Now, will Iran blink and stop harassing mighty US warships with their dinky dinghies? :juggle:

Prove it. NOT from a source that opposed the U.S. invasion of 2003 either.

Baghdad Bob was the Saddam regime's foreign minister from 1992 - 2001. If he was really a CIA mole, the CIA did a helluva job.

Baghdad Bob was picked up by US forces and quickly let go. The only people in Saddam's inner circle who were arrested and not kept long enough to at least decide whether charges against them were warranted, were those who (quite a few, including several generals who had been tasked to defend Baghdad but left their posts as the US troops moved in) who worked for the CIA. That led to suspicions he worked for the CIA, but whatever his relationship with the US, he has been living in Jordan and the UAE since then.

The quote was from the same CNN piece I had already linked earlier in the post you quoted. If you prefer FOX, here is the same things from them.

Since I have been posting on this forum (2015), and for much longer before that in other similar forums, the same arguments, the same threats, and the same things, have been going on. I can bring up at least a dozen threads before and after Trump's election, dealing with Iran, and even specifically dealing with other incidents involving Iranian speedboats, to make the point. If you feel this time the US intends to actually take out Iran's speedboats if they approach US vessels, then that is not something I can rule out for sure. But what I am confident about is that (a) Iranian speedboats will be approaching US vessels whenever they enter the Persian Gulf; and (b) if anyone of them is shot at, those vessels will come under fire from any number of myriad of platforms (land, sea, submarine, air) available to Iran to take them. And until any of these things happen, the rest is just talk.

So, for now, I am pretty much done with this thread. Unless there is some actual, relevant, issue that emerges that I feel would benefit from my input and comment.

Hell I thought we were already taking out any threat to a naval vessel!
When did we stop doing it ?

Remember when a navy ship was rammed and blown up while in port over there? Killed sailors. I thought that changed the rules of engagement .

Why would iran need military satellites ?
Wasted money that should be invested in the Iranian people. And the same goes for our govt !
The US thinks we are under duty to be a police force going after threats to peace. And it is the curse of ww2

An impossible task that will kill our modern empire .
An empire where american interests are banking and corporate interests and the dollar hegemony. Yet these capitalists dont want to finance our intel and military. That serve them. They are taxed low for the money they cant hide offshore. Panama Papers.

Our elites have the best military money can buy!

Yet we are not very good hhusbands of keeping the peace and promoting truth justice and the American way! Plus our way has taken on too much immorality.

Why does iran or anyone even need war centric military ? No military for those folks in that tribalized region and no wars ! No military means no war.

    Lol ! Not at all

    Criminals cause crime.

Cant stop people from being criminals but it is a choice of a govt to have a military even when there isnt any threat of invasion by its neighbors . Tribal nations cannot be trusted with a military . Think japan post ww2.

The pope of iran has no business in control of a moot military . No one wants iran. Too bad the middle east has militaries. To be a religion of peace that arms itself insures peace is not obtainable.

That the US is the world police is a curse . For we are not morally principled enough to have that job. We become what we are supposed to fight.

What makes you think "invasion" is the only threat a nation faces?

You have some of the right views when it comes to the vested interests who promote military expenditures in the US. And there will be such vested interests elsewhere too, including in Iran. Those whose job or political career or finances is affected by the issue, will obviously try to promote their self-interests.

But that said: Iran actually faces more dangers and threats to its national security than practically any other country in the world. We are surrounded by US bases, find US allied countries as enemies in the region, and have to worry about all sorts of 'terrorist groups de jure' (whether Islamist such as ISIS or AQ or otherwise) as well. In short, even without Trump having threatened to bring about the "official end of Iran", to "obliterate Iran", to "destroy its cultural sites", and much more (including his latest rants), Iran would not be able to pretend that we live in a neighborhood where it could survive without some investment in its military.

Pff.. The US claims to be the world police and spreader of democracy. It's a hoax. They serving their own interests, and support dictators where they can. Iran demands it can be a sovereign nation, free to sell it's oil and natural resources to who they want to. And that is at the heart of the matter between the US and Iran. The US want's to control Iran. They installed a fascist puppet dictator there in the past, who tortured 10,000's of them to death. The US supported Saddam Hussein raging a WMD war against Iran when they broke free of that neo-colonial oppression.

~ Well now today we learn China is pissing around with their "ships" being antagonistic with the Japanese & U.S. Navy . Hopefully Trump gives the same order. "Blast 'em! "
These despots seemingly want to "test" the USA while dealing with a health crisis. No honor in being a coward ...

    I could not agree more.

The US could be a force for good but our sociopaths in DC wont have it.

Blessed are the peace makers. Yet we are war mongers. War dogs.

But our elites profit from war not peace . Ike warned us about that ..
