Trump says US will ‘destroy’ Iranian gunboats that harass American ships

Trump is the master of taking the high ground against his mental inferiors. What are the chances the mad mullahs of Iran will send more speed boats within 100's of yards of a US warship? I'm going with no way, final answer. Nothing would help Trump's image more than sinking a few of 'em.

Trump has made variations of this threat from before he was elected and thereafter, prodded General Matis on why the US couldn't just blow these speedboats out of the water, and has been briefed on dozens of such encounters during his watch.

The list of specific threats made by Trump against Iran which Iran ignored and which Trump backed away from is legion. I am not going to recount them again, unless someone needs to be reminded of them. But I will post this satellite photo from a few months ago (December) to show you what you can most certainly expect to see anytime a US warship enters the Persian Gulf as this is standard procedure.

 

Not at all. Democratic policies are just fine. The Obama years gave us economic recovery and genuine economic growth, and they gave us an improvement on healthcare despite significant obstructionism from the Republicans.

I can't wait for Iran to send one of their little boats to challenge an American warship again. It's going to be a hoot. Trump has personally weighed in on this and you know they can configure these little boats loaded with shaped charges for max damage to their targets. It's not a trivial matter this speedboat diplomacy.

The US could have tried to take out the missile sites launching those attacks, especially as they came in separate waves. The US could have also retaliated afterwards, if not to "obliterate Iran", to at least hit back at those launch sites. I will leave it for you to figure out why it didn't.
