I was conservative when young, so I understand the lure of it. It tells you that nothing is ever your fault or your responsibility, and that everything should be blamed on the liberals. Everyone is born conservative, a helpless parasite. I grew out of that phase. Most people do.

And of course the world was not safer even up to that point. This case is many years old. It started in the Obama years and was handled in the New York Courts which are no friends to Trump. It was settled for $6 million and no admission of wrongdoing, so the records were not sealed completely.

All of this has nothing to do with Donald Trump Jr.

This has to do with an act passed by Congress in 2012 called the MAGNITSKY ACT

There is a great book titled "Red Notice, A True Story of High Finance, Murder and One Man's Fight for Justice". It concerns an American investment analyst named Bill Browder who went to Russia after the fall of communism in the early 90's. He found great opportunities and great corruption.

An investment company he started was seized by Russian police in 2006 and he was expelled. The police used the company to scam a $200 million tax refund from the Russian government and then charged him with the fraud. He was convicted in abstentia.

Browder's Russian attorney, Sergei Magnitsky, found proof of the corruption and was murdered by the Russian cops. Congress passed the Magnitsky Act in 2012 to punish this type of Russian corruption. Russian business interests have been trying to get the law overturned ever since.

The case our legal expert brought up has to do with a claim of money laundering in this story, but the Russians have not cooperated, so a conviction was impossible.

Natalia Veselnitsky came to the US not to sell dirt on Clinton but to help overturn the Magnitsky Act.

She had attempted to enter in 2015 and was denied a visa. She got a waiver from LORETTA LYNCH to come to the US to assist this case. She was supposed to leave in January, 2016 and overstayed.

NATALIA APPROACHED BOTH THE CLINTON AND TRUMP CAMPS TO TRY AND OVERTURN THIS ACT. No one in the Clinton team is admitting it.

She got a meeting with Trump Jr. ostensibly to give him information about Clinton. There were stories about her involving a uranium sale to Russia followed by a large donation to the Clinton Foudation as well as a huge speaking fee for Bill in Moscow.

The pitch to Trump was not made by Russian agent, but by a BRITISH PUBLICITY AGENT he knew. Does anybody including Trump Haters think the Russians would a use publicity agent for a covert operation?.

Trump agreed to meet this attorney but found Natalia's intent was to discusss the Magnitsky Act. He ended the meeting in 20 minutes.

Whether Trump Jr. used good judgement to meet someone offering dirt on an opponent can be debated (weakly). What cannot be debated is that it had anything to do with the Russian Collusion Illusion unless you want to drag Loretta Lynch in.

What can also not be debated is the Magintsky Act is still on the books.

To put it simply no one other than the participants know at this point what was actually discussed. All anyone really knows is that Trump Jr. thought he was meeting with a representative of the Russian government to get dirt on Hillary and that dirt on Hillary did eventually emerge from the Russian government. Maybe the dots connect or maybe they don't but at this point no one outside the participants in the meeting know for sure.

I'd expect a major money-laundering case against a Russian oligarch that had been dragging on for a decade probably wasn't very convincing, but have Mueller look into it, maybe he'll find that smoking gun.

 

This is all a big deal for CNN and those declining few who watch it, but most Americans understand this is just more liberal BS, a waste of time, and will go nowhere.

The press now parrots Democrat concerns over this Red Menace, this is atypical, traditionally the conservatives were much more concerned over threats from Russia than liberals who were attracted by socialism (Bernie even went there for his honeymoon). Trump's friendship with Russia is not in evidence, we haven't seen a single gesture, any move, nothing in foreign or military policy to indicate an effort to improve the US relationship with Russia since Trump took office, moreover, Trump's Administration has made numerous expressions, foreign policy decisions, military, economic and diplomatic actions plainly against Russia, so whatever title you'd attribute to Trump it shouldn't be "friendly to Russia".
