    You must be shaving or brushing your teeth. That mirror. You can go into denial but you can't refute hard cold facts. It was a brilliant move. Republicans wanted both a corporate tax cut and and individual tax cut. Democrats really wanted neither, but would go along with individual rate cuts because it is political suicide to stand in the way of that. However Democrats were going to block the entire legislation so the Republicans took a route I just spelled out. They knew if the corporate tax cuts could expire the Democrats would let them sunset without any political consequence. The Republicans not only blocked filibuster but need less of a majority to ram in through budget reconciliation. The Republicans KNOW the Democrats won't take responsibility for the individual cuts expiring in 10 year...........they will be forced to continue them. A benefit given (like welfare) is hell to take away. This technicality gave us permanent corporate tax cuts and most likely the individual ones will be reinstated permanently at some point.

    Absolute brilliance...........the Democrats took a beating like a rented mule. :banana:

    It is but it didn't kick in until the 2nd quarter of 2018, company's had to wait until payroll software updates were made available. Consequently, it's really only been in place for about 4 months.

    The standard deductions and child tax credits are not applied until you file taxes.

    That is only personal income. How about the corporate tax rate being cut from 35% to 21%. This was the biggest hit to tax revenue by far. It's the same "trickle down" feces that the right has been touting forever and it has been proven time and time again it does not "trickle down" unless we are counting corporations urinating on workers. Now, in a time when the economy is good, is not the time for tax cuts! It's like no Republican has ever studied economics. Instead they read right-winged think tank propaganda like The Heritage Foundation or other paid for publications and call it fact.

    This is going to run deficits and the deficits will continue to grow while hiring and wages remain stagnant.

    TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMICS DOES NOT WORK.

    I am middle class and I get an extra ten dollars a week. I have heard right wingers on here claim they are getting an extra two grand a year. Would love to know how that is possible.

    The standard deduction is built into the new tax tables, but the child tax credits are not. Edit..........I stand corrected.......they are as well.
