I realize this. The point of the corporate tax cuts was to encourage businesses to come home from abroad, provide more jobs, and fuel the economy. At what point a compromise and equilibrium could be met, I don't know. The philosophy behind that is corporate growth and jobs stimulates and fuels the economy more than consumer spending. The jury is out on that one.

DEMs want tax cuts for the middle class and poor. It's a platform. When those cuts are tied to ridiculous cuts to corporations that were already seeing record profits it won't fly. That is what the DEMs are leveraging.

Saying the DEMs are against tax cut for the poor and middle class is either being willfully ignorant or misinformed.

Is that your black lab in the AV? My pops had one named Fancy. She was a hell of a bird dog. She would jump in the water after a duck faster than you could call her name.

47% of Americans don't pay any federal income taxes to begin with. And this is the subject at hand, not sales taxes, FICA taxes, etc. A 10% cut in federal income taxes times zero = zero. Dems are DEFINITELY against tax cuts of any kind. And now it should be crystal clear why that is.

Exactly. Rubes are acting as if DEMs don't want middle class tax cuts. It's maddening.

DEMs support a tax plan that doesn't redistribute wealth upward. You are really boring. I'm pretty much done with you on this subject. I called you out on a source and you cried like a baby. Go cry to someone else.

And believe me when budget shortfalls come the first thing the Repubs will start cutting are safety net programs. You know, those programs that help keep people fed and out of poverty.

Why do the Dems refuse to cut taxes for the middle class and poor, as promised in their platform?

I completely agree. HOWEVER, we have a budget that must be funded. I'm 100% in favor of slashing spending and then (and not until) cutting taxes. Until that happens though this IS nothing but a windfall for ultra wealthy.

"One has to wonder how, after decades of campaigning as deficit hawks, Republican members of Congress will be able to talk about “fiscal responsibility” with straight faces."

    Practice!

Ronald Reagan tripled the national debt in eight short years in peacetime, leaving a debt chasm so wide that GeorgeHW Bush was forced to raise taxes to cover part of it.

But as soon as a Democrat came in, they started talking about deficit reduction and fiscal responsibility.

When George W Bush became President, they ran the tax cut scam once again (it was a scam this time, no one believed in "trickle down economics" by then, even though the GOP was still talking about it. Recall that this time Dick Cheney famously said "deficits don't matter". The national debt doubled again and the GOP reign ended with a collapsing economy and expoding deficts.

Leave it to the Fed and Obama to try and clean up the mess, with the GOP fighting them every step of the way.

    Now we have Trump.

And the tax cut scam is being run for the third time in less than 40 years. This time the GOP didn't even bother to trot out the tired old "trickle down" argument./

And this time, the money went right into the pockets of bond traders, hedge fund managers and CEO's/

This was predicted by nearly every responsible economist. Even the CEO's sitting in front of Steve Mnuchin told him on TV that that was what they were going to do even before the bill was introduced.
