If the relationship is "not advantaging" you at all, the Ozzies aren't very smart to let the US Marines set up shop in Darwin. It makes Oz a target. Very stupid policy on the part of your people. Why would they do something so stupid?

Perhaps not in your world but in reality a plan is a plan regardless of if it's used or not.

Have a nice day and say hi to our Marines.

Sorry, those who "planned" it had no authorisation to do so and those with the power to do so rejected it. That's not a plan, that's a PROPOSAL.

Why would the Australians be so stupid as to make their country a target?

A plan is a plan, authorized or not. It was a proposed plan. A plan that was not implemented.

And so there was no plan to invade Australia. THE END.

(*)(*)(*)(*), otherwise if you get 2 privates discussing something you can claim that their country has/had a plan to do something. It's asinine.

There was a plan. It just wasn't implemented.

If two privates have a discussion they may very well be making plans to do something. They would therefore have a plan.

See how asinine it is to count a REJECTED plan as a plan to do something and discuss it as if it was on?

Nonsense, the fight which pushed the Japanese back through New Guinea and prevented the Japanese from controlling the top end of australia was almost entirely fought and won by Australians. It was called the battle of Kokoda. You need to learn a little history mate.

Whichever way your country goes you have more interest in being our ally than we do in yours.

Buna? Was that the place that was supposed to be taken by the Americans and after they failed to take it (accounts are that many American soldiers threw away their weapons and ran into the bush) Australians, having taken Gona, were sent to take it?

The question of whether or not the Japanese had a plan is completely irrelevant, when they did threaten our top end we annhailated them without US help. Vietnam had nothing to do with us, the US asked for our help. Ditto with Iraq and Afghanistan.

Says who? After all, you're PM is inviting our Marines and airmen into your country, not the other way around.

The US requested a base so you're wrong.

That's an interesting conclusion. Would you care to share the logical steps of analysis necessary to reach that conclusion?

Sorry, but even if we take that definition Japan still had no plan to do so because elements of the IJN a Japan do not make.

Here's what really happened. The Japanese stopped their advance on the Kokoda trail and retreated because:

"...The reason for the retreat was that Guadalcanal was going badly for them and Imperial Headquarters in Tokyo deemed it wise not to stick their neck out too far in Papua until the Guadalcanal problem was resolved. They did not however abandon hope of making another attack on Port Moresby in the future, so they only retreated as far as the Templeton's Crossing - Eora region..."
    http://kokoda.commemoration.gov.au/battle-tide-turns/index.php

Guadalcanal was exclusively an American operation without Aussie Army participation.

Pity that it wasn't only a land battle.

In reality by the time they decided to retreat they had already lost. They were down to no food, low on troops and PM had been reinforced with fresh troops in case the troops along the Kokoda Track failed.

Fair call on the "... "

    What an appalling attempted word.

I am hanging my head in shame.

Japanese supplies and troops went to the campaign that had priority for the Japanese: Guadalcanal.
