It was the claims in relation to WMD that were complete BS - primarily that Saddam had an active WMD program at the time (which has nothing to do with his using chemical weapons in the past) .. and that these weapons were an imminent threat to the US homeland.

There were also some direct claims in relation to WMD that were complete BS - such as Saddam being close to having a nuclear weapon.

Regardless - the point of my post - which you completely ignored and talked over - was that with Iraq, the neocons stated what the threat that justified war was.

In this case all we got was "there is some threat".

Iran probably has them anyway, and just not saying so Turkey and Saudi Arabia won't start clamoring for nukes.

Do you seriously believe that Bush Jr. attacked Saddam in 2003 if he had nuclear weapons?

Do you seriously believe Nordkore would still exist if it had no backing from China and its own nuclear weapons?

Rule # 1 for all countries on the planet, if you are on the blacklist of the USA: Arm yourself nuclear or seek the protection of China or Russia ... otherwise the countdown is ticking against you!

Having a nuclear bomb does not mean you are untouchable. You really need to read up on how far the nukes reach. I live in Chicago suburb and I looked and simulations with current average nuke sizes and tell you what - I nuke burst in downtown Chicago wouldn’t even shake my windows. To kill everyone in the metropolitan area one would need around 100 nukes.
NK has less than 20.
China, UK and France have 200-300 each.
Russia is the only country that can do serious damage with its nukes.

So, unless a country has resources to invest into a powerful Air Force, develop ICBMs and space program to monitor global rocket launches, and a very large quantity of nuclear warheads, a few bombs won’t save you in case of a hypothetical conflict with the USA. Even if Gaddafi had 50-100 nukes nothing would change. In fact, it would probably accelerate the assault on the country because no one wants nukes to end up in rogue hands.

Those who think that having a few nukes would be able to hold the world hostage should really look into perspective.

 

Sure ... nothing gives you 100% safety ... no matter in what issue.

But the seize of the bomb is the question and where is the difference if 100 or 1000 detonate in the USA, vice versa much more from the US at them of course ... even 1 nuclear bomb detonating in any US citiy is worst case at least.

 

Even one nuke detonating in the US would be a local disaster, but it won’t do anything to the US ability to wage war. Even 1,000 nukes won’t be able to do that - in fact, nuclear explosions on the US soil would cause a pissed off wasp nest effect and support for the war would soar to 100%. After 9/11 many voluntarily joined the military.
Do you know when MAAD was a very real possibility? Back in 60s-70s the US and USSR had like 50,000 nukes each. With those quantities you could really say no one was safe. With current quantities MAAD is impossible. With NK or China quantities you can say they can cause local problems, but definitely cannot impact the US ability to wage war.

Only ... this deterrent still works today. Of course, only Russia in addition to the US is able to extinguish every opponent several times completely nuclear and to remove from the world map!

But even if someone has only 10 or 20 nuclear weapons in the arsenal as opponents of the US ... if the US knows that, the US is considering an attack ... whether legitimate or unauthorized attack ... much more thorough than at anyone who does has no nuclear weapons.

That's my point!

 

Because this "wild west" behavior pisses me off ... and because I do not feel like it, that the US in its political stupidity with the worst president of all time completely mess the whole ME up like aa nuclear meltdown, after havimg caused enough mess in Iraq against Saddam and in Syria against Assad and with the blind and stupid support of Israel!

And no, this is not hatred of America, but criticism based on indisputable facts ... Facts that are confirmed by the American services and authorities.
