No, it would be like saying "a child is not an adult". Although it is correct that all adults were once children and that all children - unless tragedy strikes - will become adults, it does not mean that it is correct to identify a child as an adult. You are confusing the potential with the actual and that is a very grave mistake.
Correct, and all fertilised eggs - unless tragedy strikes - will become babies. Well I didn't claim that it's correct to identify a child as an adult. That would be stupid. A child is a potential adult, right?
Indeed, most men like about a quarter of women are guilty of sins against potential life. I abstain from that since the end of 2016. Given that I am over 50 and use antidepressants it is not difficult.
How does one sin against something that does not exist -- and will never exist ? I can't make sense of this claim. What are you abstaining from .. eating meat ? and no wonder you are depressed if you don't eat meat .. "How can you have any pudding - if ya don't eat your meat" ?
A new unique human being is created at conception there is never a "potential" about it once that human being has been created. What happens after that is often a matter of fate as with all stages of our lives, but too many times it is the choice of another human being to take it's life, to kill it.
There is of course no such thing as "pure potential" -- Every potential something is an actual something and an an actual ZEF is a potential human being. What about conception is it that is so special that it grants rights? I do not believe in fate and neither should you.
Only a quarter of women masturbate? Lol. And how does female masturbation kill any potential life? Or are you referring to menustration here?
Every child will experience their team winning the league title unless tragedy strikes and they turn out to be a Spursy (ew). If your premise is that there is no difference between potential and actual that is the kogical implication. Yes, but that does not mean an actual adult, right?
When we grant legal status is arbitrary. Some cultures, like ours in the 1800s, did not until they became an adult.. The law is usually an attempt to balance competing interests, and that is the case here. So we need to pick a date that reasonably balances those interests. I don't care what day you pick. One of the things that hides in the shadows, in these discussions, is that law HAS to be secular, and the Right is motivated by what they think is religion (it's not, it's about power). That leaves them without a leg to stand on, legally speaking. Attempts to use viability are flawed, because eventually rich parents will drop off eggs and sperm at a lab, and come back 9 months later to pick up their vat grown kid. I can't really do this justice. To really understand the issue, you need to look at the work that has been done, mostly by medical ethicists. Or you can try to reinvent the wheel without the medical, ethical and legal training that would make the attempt possible...
No, viability is 23 weeks....9 months doesn't go any faster than it always has....fetuses don't grow any faster than they always have
FoxHastings said: ↑ No, viability is 23 weeks... NO, a ZEF grows at the same rate it always has and does not reach viability ( the ability to live OUTSIDE the womb without extreme measures, it is fully formed at viability) until 23 weeks...... see, at conception the ZEF is NOT instantly fully formed, it GROWS inside the woman...that is why it is in there for 9 months...it is growing. And "we" can't "push it back"

And "we" can't "push it back" HOW TF will an artificial womb speed up gestation? "They will become popular" ???? AND SO? Maybe we should discuss real life and facts while we wait for your miracle speed grown babies... BTW, did you read my post before you quoted it? It has real life and facts in it..

Are you also saying you agree that gestation can't be sped up?
