Sessons is for punishing people who break the law.

    Well duh?

If the dopers do not have enough votes to legalized drugs then they have only themselves to blame when they get caught

    Totally.

Sessions won't crack down on legal weed (Colorado, Washington, Etc.).

He is too worried about timing out resignation for max impact. :salute:

If you legalize marijuana, business will expand its firewall to protect themselves. It exists already. How many of you have already had to take a drug test in order to get a job?

Legalized pot will create a class of worker that cannot be trusted to handle money, machinery...responsibility.

We will create the world's largest pool of broom pushers.

    Welcome to the future potheads.

Or they can get jobs in Silicon Valley. Many tech people are pot smokers, including the late Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. Heck, in San Jose alone, there are 106 medical marijuana dispensaries. Companies like Adobe and Cisco don't even drug test new employees.

    Dark Daimon;

Adobe and Cisco will start drug testing when the lawsuits mount and their insurance demands it. In the meantime, I hopes the stock holders are not aware.

    Steve Jobs smoked pot?

He also had a sense of invulnerablity which led him to ignore his cancer until it was too late. Do you think his pot smoking emboldened him to be foolish?

BTW: Putting a positive spin on the bad habits of the wealthy who can buy their way out of their problems is a bad example to set for ordinary people who cannot. Their mistakes can be life killing.

Then why do Republicans hate Roe v. Wade so much?

The poster I was replying to argued that Conservatives are more about giving civil liberties than Liberals. That really isn't the case if people like Sessions continue to obsess over a victimless crime and try to control what people put in their bodies.

The comment that "the law is the law" deserves some clarification.

To a conservative, the law is simply society's collective implementation of the individuals right to defend his person, property, and liberty. Individual rights are supreme to the written law since the written law can be abused.

To "progressives", the law is a tool for social engineering. Society and group rights take precedence over individual rights.

With respect to abortion, the rights of the woman and the baby have to be balanced. Although the actual Roe v Wade decision is somewhat balanced and allows for strong state regulation during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters, later decisions and politics have overridden the original Roe and given the woman control throughout the pregnancy of the baby's life.

"progressives" see that as good for society - many of their arguments revolve around an unwanted child becoming a burden on society. Conservatives see that as a violation of individual rights since the fundamental issue is the status of the baby.

And (crazy, I know) they don't like the murder of innocents.

Why do lefties love obamacare so much?

The only way to gain electoral votes for the R's is to split up the state of California. California has the highest poverty rate in the US. There are too many urban votes to swing the state to the red.

    Split California?

The constitutional requirement to split any state would be impossible the meet..

A solution to get Republicans to the polls would be to restore the primary system and do away with the runoff system. That way, you would have a Republican and a Democrat on the November ballot.

Last November's election had two democrats running for the one senate seat up for grabs. With no candidates on the ballot, Republicans had no one to vote for.

But bombing the Middle East and laws allowing people to run over protesters is fine? They prioritize the development of a bunch of cells over looking after ACTUAL human lives.

Because it makes Healthcare slightly more affordable for those who need it and prevents providers from screwing over people with pre-existing conditions. It's not great and I'd prefer a public option, tier system like Israel, or flat out Universal Healthcare but it's a step in the right direction.

War is messy. Its messier with lefties.

I have to fight in that world (medicine).

You have to pretend reality isn't real.

    Edgy.

Mind warping drugs are not victimless

They do real harm to individuals and society as a whole

What will the state of California do in the future when burned out potheads lose their jobs, their homes and families and show up at the welfare office by the millions?

They will have to stand in line behind the family and friends they let down.

Close. My county borders both. Shasta County pop. 185,000. I'd support and inland state combining all inland Ca. Except Yolo and Sacramento counties along with inland Oregon and Washington counties. One inland state from south of Bakersfield to north of Spokane.

Well aside from the studies showing that marijuana actually isn't that bad, it's up to the individual what they put into their body.

Spoke like someone who couldn't care less about what others think including parents, siblings, teachers, employers, friends, wives and children....

Maybe the guy in the card board box condo next to you will agree.

(Don't pee indoors. The condo may collapse. Go to the sidewalk)

How are you able to handle your job ?

It's like being a Marine combat navy corpsman or army combat medic every day.

How many years can you last doing that job ?

How many in your profession experience PTSD ?

Is there a special training involved in preparing one for that profession ?

One of the early signs of PTSD when out in the **** aka battle fatigue or shell shock is going into tunnel vision.

Caught myself going into tunnel vision when I was a FNG in a fire fight a couple of times and snapped out of it. If I didn't I would either be dead or applying for a VA PTSD claim.

I suppose those working in an ER go through the same thing ?

If druggies can win popular support to change the drug laws they should be free to blow their minds on any drug that is legal

But most druggies to not respect the law and choose to disobey it

Then they complain that their "rights" are being violated which is simply not true
