The 21st century Christian answer to Muslim Fundamentalists . No differences whatsoever . Here are the West's Terrorists peddling their jingoistic nonsense Or, How to abuse an otherwise innocuous Belief system in easy to follow stages .
Constantine declared Christianity the religion of the Empire.. The False Prophet "of Revelation the leadership of apostate Israel, who rejected Christ and worshiped the Beast." The Great Harlot of Revelation was "Jerusalem which had always been . . . falling into apostasy and persecuting the prophets . . . and had ceased to be the City of God." "Holy" Roman Empire at the time of Constantine............
Typical of people who lack expertise and scholarship . The Book had no name . Period . Commentators later decided on a name . Revelations is an early example of a good attention getting head line . So stop writing twaddle .
If you would actually read that book and spend less time listing to foolishness you would see this...The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show unto his servants, even the things which must shortly come to pass: and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John; Revelation 1:1 (ASV) Right there at the beginning of that book it tells you what it is about.......Revelation...a revealing. God gave it to Jesus and Jesus gave it to John.
When I say the Book had no name , I mean exactly that . The fact is that the Author gave it no name . Arguing is just ignorance of the fact As for it being a letter ......... This is exactly what my previous Post says . It's in the detail , if you bother to read . So far you and Smith have said nothing that adds to my Post . Carry on . And Smith . If you are going to present yourself as a Christian , I suggest you be more mannerful , less arrogant and put on your listening ears before gobbing your views . My years spent looking at this interesting book almost certainly exceed the number of years you have been alive . And whatever the detail meanings of it , references to the future did not stretch further than the resolution of matters that they ( the Pacificists , to keep it simple for you) and the whole movement faced around 50AD . Constantine the Great ruled some 250 years later for over 30 years , as you ought to know . If you think the so called Patmos Hermit sat there recording messages from someone about his reign , let alone later times , then God help us all --- to coin a phrase .
Apocalyptic literature was very popular back then.. The Revelation is about the recent past, current times and the foreseeable future.. It even addressed the fear of a return of Nero... so it has to have been written after the death of Nero and the deaths of Peter and Paul.
Just one more thing on Typology: It is in the same vein as Biblical 'Numerology,' where God's purpose for the situation is validated by His consistency in the use of a 'particular number' to explain His plan. Typology is also the same, but in fact is prophecy...God divulging His plan well B4 the actual spiritual event, which also validates the actual event when it does occur in the future. It also shows God's consistency of plan, as well as validates the Spirit behind scripture in general. Inspired words recorded by mortal men may not be word-for-word 'thus saith the Lord,' but the "Spirit" behind the words inspired is validated often with 'types.' That is also another way to 'correctly interpret' scripture! That is why in not considering myself a 'Fundie,' I look for the harmony & consistency of the scriptures and the Spirit behind them, but as in cover-to-cover, and do not focus on a 'theology' or denominational label on just a handful of printed letters on paper pages...as often said by Jesus, "For those who have ears to hear, and eyes to see." For those who dont have 'spiritual' eyes & ears, all I can do for them is....
Is that official Christian Fundamentalist Terrorism ? Or , is it from the Fuzzy Wuzzy Thinkers Brigade who confuse "Thought" with "Thinking " ?
The Mods suggested yesterday that I ignore posters like you (note 'our' conversation was Deleted), as I quoted my lack of any concern of your opinions or would give your words any credence in regards to anything in the Religion section...the scriptural term for ppl as such as you, as prophesied 'would come during the latter times' is, "Mocker & Scoffer." YOU embarass yourself....
That does not mean anything when it comes to spiritual matters. I know people in the Church that I attend who are older than I am and or has been baptized longer than I have been, and I understand basically the Bible more than they do even David said he knew more than his teachers. But the point that I am making is the book of Revelation is a book that reveals world events that God wanted His people to know. So whether the writer gave it a name or not the fact still is the first chapter tells us what that book is about. And so, whomever it was that decides to put a title on it is correct in giving it that name.
Remove me from this thread Moderator . The company of fools is no delight And , oh boy , these fools are dangerous .
Well, I guess anyone who does not blindly believe that just because someone is older does not mean they understands God's word better would be considered dangerous. And if you think you are in the company of fools then it would be wise for you to do as Solomon said. But understand this; anyone can call someone a fool when he is unable to convince them to believe what he wants them to believe. It’s sort of like the fox calling the grape sour because it was unable to jump high enough to get them.
