I live in a state that is dominated by the Democratic Party, as are the states north and south of here. Our economies, far outpace those states dominated by conservatives. We are also healthier and longer living.

The thing that separates liberals from conservatives, is that conservatives, as the OP clearly demonstrates, rely on belief, whereas liberals rely on empirical evidence.

Well I don't understand why you said it was a republican congress that passed the ecology programs of the 60s and 70s. And the dixiecrats did not morph into republicans. The just identified as such, they didn't change any beliefs just party affiliation. They were bigots as democrats and they became bigots as republicans.

I didn't say, "it was a republican congress that passed the ecology programs of the 60s and 70s." I said the substantive Clean Water and Clean Air acts, and the EPA were done under Nixon's direction in the 70s.

you said a republican controlled congress. Nixon signed bills, he did not ask congress to pass a bill that the executive formulated. He tried to weaken the bill thru the republicans in congress. He did create the EPA to monitor compliance.

The democrats gave us slavery. They gave us the Civil war. They gave us segregation. They gave us the vote against the end of segregation, and the right for black people to vote.

Now worst of all they give us bands of roving thugs, and want to give us socialism/communism.

Lesh said: We get excuses for every bit of failed Republican policy.(trickle down ring a bell?)
This is just more of the same.

Trickle down worked - it worked for me and a lot of other Americans until Bush Sr went along with the Democrat tax increase.

Are you trying to say that "shovel ready jobs" worked?

You forgot to mention very high taxes and a stifling Washington bureaucracy. The empirical evidence stemming from that fact is the the Untied States was losing on all fronts until Trump the Great took command.

Social Security; Medicare-Medicaid; Peace Corps; unemployment insurance; welfare (for the poor and corporate); civil rights; student grant and loan programs; safety laws (OSHA); environmental laws; prevailing wage laws; right to collective bargaining (which brought about paid medical insurance, paid vacations, pensions, etc.); workers' compensation; Marshall Plan; flood-disaster insurance; School Lunch Program; women's rights; the Fair Labor Standards Act, which established a minimum wage, instituted child labor laws, and set up time-and-a-half pay for over a 40-hour week; FHA-HUD with its public housing, urban renewal and 44 million residential homes (before WWII almost 70 percent of our nation were renters; by the 1970s this had been reversed); farm-conservation subsidies -- USDA programs, Farmers Home Administration (the bankers didn't want to make rural loans); small flood-control lakes (more than 3,000 in Oklahoma alone); rural water districts; rural electricity (REA).

    Hows that for a start?

    Vacations
    Holiday Pay
    Unemployment
    Healthcare

    And on and on.

All of it to be undermined by Republicans...slowly but surely

First of all, they made Social Security payments exist. The GOP has been trying to undo that since 1935.

Second, it was Ronald Reagan that began taxing them.
