You should try to get more of your facts straight before spouting off. Sen. Dirksen, GOP from Illinois, was most responsible for the civil rights act and the voting act of the 60s. He is the one who overcame Democrat filibustering in the Senate to get LBJ's bill through. The substantial Clean Water and Clean Air Acts were passed under Nixon and a Republican controlled congress. Nixon also established the EPA and signed the Consumer Product Safety Act.
Our increased defense spending under Reagan won and ended the cold war.
Obama was against same sex marriage, before he was for it, after he discovered that many gay people had lots of money and might contribute heavily to his campaign.

Quit revising history - Dien Bien Phu was in 1954 - the French left in 1956 with the Geneva Conference of 1954 setting up the division of Vietnam into North and South. The first Americans to die were two Military advisors who died on July 8,1959. The war escalated when Russia decided to get into a supporting roll for North Vietnam and gave support to the Domino Theory that was prevalent in American political thinking.

Wage freezes? Salaries and bonuses are rising under Trump

Slowly but surely, the Democrats anti-American agenda is being exposed. Slowly but surely, a federal voter ID will come into being. Slowly but surely, the Democrat Party will change to attract more moderate voters or will lose constituencies and power nation wide.

Consider that they've lost the American working family vote and are losing the black male vote, possibly followed by the black female vote. What do you think will become of them when that happens?

I doubt you're looking for an objective answer, I'm also not sure if you're interested in what's been done by the modern democrat party or parties that were historically liberal and/or progressive.

If the question is the former... I don't have a good answer, I suppose you could attribute welfare reform to the Clinton administration, but that was of course done with a Republican congress.

If it's about the latter, then a huge number of accolades would be awarded, particularly any civil rights. Women and minority suffrage both came on the back of progressive movements. Same for virtually every social safety net in existence.

 

It looks like you believe democrats have 2 things to offer.

Democrats like Al Gore's father led the fight against civil rights. Trying to give them the credit for it is revisionist history.

I actually think the exact opposite of what you think is going to happen is going to happen. Democrats will go down to a stunning defeat.

As the polls show the blue wave less and less likely, the democrats will become more and more desperate, and become more and more violent. They will get uncivil and attack republicans on the street. They will riot and burn down neighborhoods.

The Democrat party will drive people into the republicans arms with their hate.

GI bill was definitely bipartisan.

Civil Rights Act was passed in House by 61% of Democrats and 80% of Republicans
In the Senate by 66% of Democrats and 82% Republicans
Seems like the Dixiecrats many of whom were affiliated with the KKK were no votes

Voting Rights Act was passed in House by 78% of Democrats
82% of Republicans
In the Senate 73% of Democrats
94% of Republicans
Again it was Democrat Dixiecrats voting no
So I don't think we can give Democrats total credit for passing either so we will call both of these bipartisan too.
