Absolute truth here. Without "problems" there's no justification for a ruling political class. More, without problems, there isn't any reason for additional regulatory constraints. of continuing long running government bureaucracies.

I agree 100%! As noted in the OP, the difference is that President Trump has taken control of the Republican Party. All of President Trumps action are securing the present for old farts like us and securing the future for our children and grandchildren.

The Republican Party has become the party of FDR, JFK and Ronald Reagan - for American business and for the American working family. As the "establishment" Republicans are sidelined or forced into retirement, the GOP becomes even more the Party of Trump.

There is a good case to be made that Woodrow in fact set the stage for the Second World War. His own penchant for Eugenics clearly set the stage in our country for the strife that became the civil rights movement. Similarly, you could make a case that FDR's policies effectively forced Japan to lash out at the US.

OMG! All of the "accomplishments" you have noted happened more than 50 years ago. And that's my point - the Democrats have deserted the American working family in favor of illegal aliens and sanctuary cities that have become bastions of homelessness and crime.

I repeat myself: "OMG! All of the "accomplishments" you have noted happened more than 50 years ago. And that's my point - the Democrats have deserted the American working family in favor of illegal aliens and sanctuary cities that have become bastions of homelessness and crime."

Woodrow Wilson (or his wife) got us into WWI
FDR with lend lease and embargoes against Japan (although I agree with his actions)
Let us not forget Vietnam - which LBJ started with the Gulf of Tonkin resolution.

That was all good stuff to blame on Democrats until Bush got us into Iraq and Afghanistan.

That is why, like many others, I saw no difference between the two parties until Trump came along and started his transformation of the GOP into the people party.

    They opened our borders.

They gave North Korea nuclear weapons.

They get flexible with Putin on defense.

    They help China with ICBM's

They fly pallets of cash to terrorist governments

Where did the poster say that WW and FDR "started" World Wars? However, both Presidents dragged America, kicking and screaming" into both wars jst as LBJ did "start" the war in Vietnam.

Bullcrap. Trump is spending your children's and grandchildren's money just like any other fiscally irresponsible politician.
Trump is also feeding the inflation monster - which is the absolute greatest terror to any economy and particularly devastating for older Americans.
The only difference between Trump and other politicians is that he is a dick in public rather than hiding the fact that he is a dick.

More money has been stolen with the briefcases of businessmen than the guns of the poor.
People complain about the "welfare queens," while the business that belonged to Florida's Republican governor was fined over $300 million for Medicare and Medicare fraud.

Whatever. You can play the tribal Republican/Democrat game - but deep down - there is no difference other than the players.

A very insightful post. The words might sound offensive but they are true. The Obama administration made the Democrat establishment drunk with power and the thought that they actually could fundamentally transform America, as has been their goal since Wilson. Wilson started the attack against the Constitution. That continued but got a strange bedfellow of cutting America down to size. But that was all underlying the desire for power which was utmost for Wilson, FDR, and Obama, very strong with HST (maybe), LBJ and Clinton, and moderate with JFK and Carter. Most of the base simply do not pay attention and don't comprehend the goal, and just go along for the ride like good soldiers.

Obama advanced the cause by magnitudes and the drunkenness was on steroids; their sense of power was euphoric. I do not think it is reversible now, like taking Paris out of the boy. They thought they had actually achieved the dream when Trump burst their bubble. That is why they just didn't get angry with defeat but went literally insane. They are down -- way down -- but not out, and to their credit they never give up. They have to be roundly and overwhelmingly defeated at every turn or we will lose our republic.

He bowed to the rich and was weak on military matters. The Dems didn't have total control all through Oblama's tenure you could tell by their desperation to push Hillary into the White House by hook or crook.

    It was not!

There was a military advisory presence in Vietnam prior to the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, but that presence was there as a provocation by Robert Strange NcNamara and LBJ to start the war. None of it worked and they finally got their way based on a North Vietnamese torpedo boat attack in the Gulf of Tonkin in response to provocations created by OPlan 34A which had South Vietnamese naval units attacking North Vietnamese targets while under umbrella protection of the US Navy.

The Vietnamese had defeated the French in 1959. Vietnam was a war and the US got involved by taking over South Vietnam from the French during Eisenhower...Advisors or not North and South Vietnam were at war..If we aide a country we are allied with them and thus in a de facto state of war with their enemy.

From January 2009 through January, 2011, the Democrats had the White House, a majority in the House and a super majority in the Senate - and they got crap done because of Obama's need to harm the US. Over the following 6 years, the Obama policies devastated the House and Senate Democrats as the purge of moderate Democrats left only the extremists in charge.

    I love the Obama legacy.
