Whats the difference between Mexicans illegally entering by land & Cubans illegally entering by sea?

If they were sneaking into the country you would not know the numbers.

Mayorkas'. Don't you read the material you provide links to?

Not all of the migrants hoping to claim asylum in the United States are fleeing Central America’s violence-torn “Northern Triangle” of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, contrary to popular perception. Of the 71,021 asylum-seekers waiting in Mexico for their applications to be processed in the U.S. as of late February, 16% were Cuban, according to federal immigration data. That makes Cubans the third-largest group of migrants, just ahead of Salvadorans, and after Guatemalans and Hondurans.
    ...............................................
So far this year, the U.S. Coast Guard has picked up 180 Cuban “balseros” at sea trying to reach the U.S. The number is modest – but it’s already more than three times the Coast Guard rescues of Cubans made last year. Cubans intercepted at sea are returned to Cuba under the terms of a 1995 migration agreement.

You have yet to provide any indication Cubans are being singled out for political purposes. Where's the damn beef?

If you’re mad about illegal immigration, be mad at unrestricted capitalism
You can’t be a free market purist, and still be mad that a cheaper work force is encouraged to cross illegally into the country, and then subsidized by taxpayers in the form of welfare benefits.

Except his assertion is baseless. You're wrong again Rod, keeping your perfect record intact.

Not as many as those who die in drug wars, or got on the wrong side of a drug cartel, or who was abducted by human traffickers as children and sold as slaves, .... or the many other conditions they decided they wanted to escape from by risking their life in the heat.

By pushing them back to the place where they were sexually abused and raped, and will likely ultimately get killed by whoever they were running away from in the first place? That's your plan to save their lives?

    Genius!

Yep, migrants just make their way to the southern border completely unmolested, they aren’t exploited, and women aren’t raped in any way by human smugglers. Completely tone deaf to the obvious.

Unless you know how many die in the desert your first point is arguable.

Regarding your second point, we are not the world’s police and the world is not a perfect place. The culture of the people south of our border is that women are second class citizens, much like the women who are oppressed by the religion of peace. Do we want that culture to invade this country when we already have one culture hell bent on killing themselves in horrific numbers?

The adjustment act doesn't mean that all Cubans are legal. Cubans can legally migrate to the U.S. through various migration programs that include immigrant visa issuance, refugee admission, the diversity lottery, and the Special Cuban Migration Program (SCMP), otherwise known as the Cuban lottery. Others can be considered illegal. Any Cuban who doesn't meet the requirements for being legal can be deported during the first year they are in the country. What you said used to be the practice, not the law, but it is no longer being done that way.

So your argument boils down to whether the number of people killed in their own country at the hands of gun violence and human trafficking exceeds or not those that die while crossing the desert? And, of course, as the good conservative Trump loyalist that you are, you believe that you should be the one making the decision of whether the risk is worth it or not for other people and their families, right?

And you said that the world's police should send migrants to their death in order to save their lives.

I'll pass on the xenophobic nonsense with which you open this paragraph, and just say that we have a culture hell bent on killing ourselves because that's what gun advocates and right-wing terrorists have led us to. That's the REAL problem we need to solve. I don't favor open borders, but illegal immigration is among the least of our problems. I wouldn't put immigration in the top 50 list of problems to solve. Probably not even in the top 100. Illegal immigration is mostly a humanitarian problem. Not much more than that.

As for your last question, the answer is YES. We want many cultures to "invade" our country. Cultural diversity is what made this country great.

Yes changed in 2017 by the anti-Cuban freedom President. That WAS the difference and should never have been changed.

So why doesn't the DHS treat Mexican illegals the same?

Bypassing just about all the things you wrote off as xenophobic, even though they’re true, along with dragging guns into this even though it’s the people who are political opposites of me who are killing each other, how does diversity make anything except food great? Diversity would mean Biden picked a conservative as a running mate. Of the most populated democrat states, how many of them had POC as governors?

Diversity for the sake of diversity doesn’t strengthen, it weakens.

    Oh puleeze!

I would think most people would recognize that crossing 90 miles of shark-infested waters is far more dangerous than walking on land.

    I don't agree with xenophobia.

The rest of your post is unrelated nonsense. This thread is about immigration. And you were saying that to avoid immigrants from being abused and sexually assaulted we should send them back to the place where they were abused and sexually assaulted.

So I guess it's safe to assume that you changed your mind.

Obama ended that policy shortly before leaving office. There was a thread about it.

Desperate people do desperate things. One may not agree with their action, but I at least try to empathize with the reasons of why they’re doing what they do.

I was broken up over a report that a 6 year old was gang raped. By the time she reached the detention center she had lost the ability to speak. I couldn't figure out if she was traveling alone or was separated from her group. However, as a parent, I can't begin to imagine letting my 6 year old go anywhere with anybody unless I know them well. I hired baby sitters when my kids were little but that was maybe 3 times per year and just a few hours.

I've been through some tough stuff but I can't even conceptualize how bad things must be in <wherever she was from> to let my baby girl cross any borders alone. There are very few things I draw a hard line on as I try to be fair and understand the other side but there is no question. I'd like to find that baby girl's parents and torture them. I swear I'm not a violent person but this is a hard NO.

It’s a very hard “no” and the apex of irresponsibility. Handing a child over to criminals is unthinkable. The laws for these things exist for a reason, if people don’t know better than to do things like that they’re not welcome here.

I hear ya... and I have wondered the same thing... why would parents entrust their child to evil human traffickers??

Unfortunately, I suspect many [if not most] of those lone children may not have parents... or may have been stolen from their parents... and brought over the border by child traffickers to be sold to evil pedophiles.

Months ago some of the older lone children were brought to Dallas to wait to be picked up by their "families." I thought that was odd and I wondered who those "families" really were and how they proved their relationship with those children ??
