The income tax went up 1% for people making $250,000 a year, 2% for people making over $500,000 a year, and 3% for people making over $1,000,000 a year (the rate for everyone making less than $250,000 a year remained the same), and that was only after California voters approved the new tax rate via proposition 30 back in the year 2012

    Who's not being truthful again?

That wold be you. My relatives in California report a vastly different situation. Don't believe what your politicians tell you. They tend to tell only what they want you to believe.

But the voters get no say so when it comes to fees and there's a whole lot of California hidden fees.

The biggest problem is Californians themselves, there are a whole lot of stupid people in California who shouldn't be going to the polls sending third world legislatures to Sacramento. Most of the voters have no idea what a bond is thinking it's free money. They vote to raise taxes as long as it's not there taxes being raised.

Look at Los Angeles County, 53 percent of the city`s adult population are functionally illiterate.

It was stupid people and unknowledgeable people who sent Jerry Brown to Sacramento, the former Oakland Mayor back when Oakland was the murder capitol of America. Jerry Brown has never met a felon he didn't like. Back in the 70's Brown would empty the prisons of it's felons just like he's doing today.

Come to think about it, where ever Jerry Brown goes, the crime rate soares.

It was back during Browns first term as Governor during the 70's Brown came up with a scheme. Back before Jerry Brown, California was #1 when it came to public schools and free jr. colleges (aka community colleges) and California had the best roads and highways in America. Brown took the California gas tax that paid for building and maintaining the roads and highways and put that money into the general fund which gave the state a surplus. "Hey stupid Californians, look at the surplus, reelect me as your Governor." And they did. Today California has the worse roads and highways in America and the worse public schools in America. It all began with Jerry Brown and third world liberal state legislatures.

The exodus has been going on for some time. It's mostly conservatives who pay taxes and kept California's tax coffers full who have left the state. But no decrease in the state's population, they were replaced with uneducated, unskilled immigrants (legal and illegal) who pay little in taxes.

So you're going by a secondhand account?

Well, you should know that this is not my personal opinion, the governor of California has not raised taxes without voter approval, and the last tax increase that California made was back in 2012 (which did not apply to the incomes of those making less than $250,000 a year). You can look it up yourself if you don't believe me

I see things clearly. I have lived in California since '64 and it still looks great to me. Perhaps if you knew anything about this state as it really exists, you would know that too. I love Mexicans and what they bring to the table here in the Golden State, always have. As great as this state is and has been for centuries, I truly believe that our greatest days are still ahead. Cheers

It seems as though the political right and the GOP in general is devoid of any constructive ideas these days. Most of their rhetoric is based in blaming others for all the ills of the country and not really coming up with any cogent plans to remedy the ills they are constantly whining about. So, yeah, keep on blaming the hippies for your shortcomings and see how far you get.

I've known old liberals who were absolutely brilliant, and I've known young conservatives who were kind people.

Generation X was young when it voted for Reagan. The baby boomers are old these days, and many are liberals.

I am 40 now, and I have remained pretty much where I was at 20: Moderate to left. I know smart liberals and good-hearted conservatives.

Winston Churchill was a brilliant man, but on this matter he was dead wrong.

I was in California in late 1990s, and yes, it was very productive. I was one of "dem liberal techies." My younger brother is there now working for Google, and he is not in a gated community. I did notice some unrest among people who were complaining about "yuppies" taking over their neighborhoods, and of course there were fundamentalists and skinheads coming over there all the time to attack people. But as for productivity, California is America's greatest hotbed of scientific and technological innovation - pursuits that benefit not only the state itself but the rest of America and much of the rest of the world.

There is a simple solution to water problems - in California and elsewhere. It is called ocean desalination plants.

I don't believe you, since you are using the same "second hand" information sources you decry. Btw, where do you think all the money for your super railroad is to come from, all the increased costs of welfare in your state and the payment of medical bills for illegals comes from? You are told that they do not come from taxes and you actually believe it? All of the money that any government spends comes from the people in the form of taxes, no matter what the government calls it.

It appears to be "your personal opinion" that moonbeam can do no wrong, which is why so many taxpayers are leaving your state.

Having been born in and lived in California for the first 45 years of my life, I have a pretty good idea about it. You, on the other hand, make assumptions without any knowledge to back them up. A typical liberal snowflake and prime example of what is wrong with the state.

BTW, if you think California is so great, please explain their continued deficit spending and support of law breakers.

    Time to rethink you allegiance.

But you appear to be perfectly fine blaming those who disagree with your politics for all the evil in the world? The exact definition of a California democrat.

Yes, desalinization plants would help solve one of Cali's most pressing problems. But the politicians would prefer to waste money on boondoggle high speed rail projects and "green energy" projects.

It's not secondhand, I am a citizen of California. You can deny it all you want, that doesn't change the fact of the matter, California's last tax increase was in 2012, it was voter approved, and it only effected the income tax rate of those making more than $250,000 a year

I have absolutely no allegiance to either political party and I am not a liberal. Jerry Brown is and always has been a fiscal conservative and I like him as governor. I also liked Arnold and George Dukmejian. I think California is the greatest state and enjoy living here. Hearing people put us down because of crap they hear or read in idiotic right wing blogs, Fox News and AM radio shows kind of pisses me off. As far as I am concerned, if you don't like it here, get the hell out and don't come back. I also am a big fan of Mexicans and hate it when ignorant ********s blame all of their problems on them.

You can make that democratic statement all you want, it does not make it true. You still have not explained where all this extra money comes from. Remember, all government spending is the result of taxes whether you call them that or not.

When you actually look at California and look at the state legislature, it looks like we already did gave it back to Mexico.

No, people blame the democrats and other liberals for the problems of the state.

Typical statement of a closet liberal.

It is second hand. You repeat what your overlords tell you and claim it as fact. It isn't.
