Now, if you can show evidence of Russia bombing Hilary Clinton political headquarters, armed Republicans with military weapons to attack and kill everyone at any Clinton event, and had special forces teams killing Clinton staffers - things we do as I post this to try to affect Syria's and other countries election - then you can talk to be about Russian interference in our elections.

To answer your question, no one has said Americans have to hate Russia, but many Americans do oppose Russia's aggression in Ukraine and her annexation of Crimea. They also don't approve of Russia's support of the murderous Syrian dictator and the fact that Russia is Iran's main weapons supplier and supplier of nuclear equipment.

Oh, than there is the little matter of Russia's interference in our Presidential election.

That is all very real not some wild conspiracy theory like "Obama's stinkin' Rotten Swamp" or "Obama's Deep State."

 

How have we attacked Russian elections? I can't find any information online backing this up. Syria is basically a dictatorship and doesn't have real elections.

We know the Russians attacked our elections based on intelligence collected by the CIA and FBI and they have even named individuals involved and what exactly they did.

A good point which cuts to the main argument: those who support democracy and freedom vs. the authoritarians who seek to dictate how people live, think and what they believe.

Russia behaved badly, but hacking emails which put a candidate in a poor light is much different than manipulating election results. The latter would be extremely serious, threatening a genuinely vital American interest, in free and fair elections. For that reason the controversy should act as Thomas Jefferson’s famous “fire bell in the night” and force states in particular to improve election security. Imagine the constitutional crisis if Moscow had changed the election outcome.

Of course, hacking the campaign still was illegal and improper. Nevertheless, it didn’t undermine the election process. After all, revealing hidden truths about one of the candidates actually increased voter knowledge. The method was wrong, but the result was positive. In fact, Ukraine engaged in a more limited and less intrusive effort on behalf of Hillary Clinton, mostly researching and disseminating embarrassing information about the Trump campaign.
