You are incorrect. The question was asked to show a DEMOCRAT who supported open borders.

And I do not support the restrictions you favor. They are economically and ethically unsound. We don't need all of the immigration restrictions we have today.

The people who want the border open the most are the employers that benefit from the cheap labor. Both parties have supported this since Ford. (Nixon tackled this.) IOW, the people who own the Congress Critters have a large say in all of this.

I've never met a D person (I know a whole bunch of them,) who wants open borders. They are having a Trump meltdown. Everything he does is wrong. That's what you are hearing.

Next month, on the 4th Thursday, Democrats will all be on FB explaining how stupid Trump is for declaring a national day of Thanksgiving. It'll be fun to watch.

    You are incorrect.

This is the question I was responding to.

Harder to ask for links to general population wanting the same, but if you have some that informed your opinion, I'd love to read them.

There are plenty of activists in Europe who want open borders.
Most of these activists seem to be female for some reason.

Why did you edit out the first part of the request you replied to?

I'd love to see some links from Dem politicians asking for no limit open borders.

Under Brown, California Has Own Open-Border Policy

Little by little, California Gov. Jerry Brown and his Democratic allies in the legislature have made their state a laboratory for open-border policies. The rest of America should be paying much closer attention.

As President Obama mulls an executive order to legalize millions of illegal aliens, he can look West for inspiration. When it comes to undercutting our nation's immigration law, the Golden State is way ahead of him.

Just this week, Brown appeared with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto and all but welcomed more illegals to California. A slip of the tongue? Hardly.

Brown knew the Mexican's trip was big news and widely followed south of the border. He might as well have laid out a mat with "Welcome Illegals" on it.

Pena Nieto's comments were also telling. "This is the other Mexico," he said in Los Angeles — in Spanish.

He's right. With just 12% of U.S. population, California is home to nearly 30% of the nation's 11 million illegal immigrants. And with one-third of Mexico's citizens saying in a recent poll they'd like to relocate to the U.S., don't expect that number to shrink soon.

By the way, California is also home to 25% of the nation's welfare recipients. Just a coincidence?

Brown and other California Democrats have found pandering to illegals and the mostly far-left groups that support them to be politically profitable.

Most recently, Democrats have tried to kill English-only education in the state. A seemingly small thing, it would create a permanent Spanish-speaking underclass dependent on welfare and the Democratic Party.

And following a recent ACLU lawsuit, the federal government announced this week that it will let as many as a quarter-million deportees return to California. Democrats quietly supported the suit.

As we said, nothing new. Last year, Brown signed a number of bills that make it easier for illegals to come to California and stay — law and the border be damned.

One of those bills makes it illegal for police to hand illegal immigrants over to the federal government, unless they committed a serious crime.

Another gives illegals driver's licenses, providing them instant access to all sorts of government goodies and setting up massive potential voter fraud.

All this costs taxpayers billions, but Democrats don't care. They long for an unassailable electoral majority as far as the eye can see.

Because this is a different sentence with no relation to the first sentence.

You will notice the period at the end of the first sentence which indicates a stop. Then a new subject is brought up.

There was no reason to include the first sentence as it has no relevance to the second.

The poster asked two completely different questions and I responded to one of them.

    America a nation of immigrants.

"Give me you’re tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

    Not anymore it seems

Nice piece. Anything that isn't quite so vague or written from a right wing bias? Your initial question referenced politicians who want open borders and I'm asking for a link showing a left wing politician who wants an open border. Brown is soft on immigration, absolutely. But your article lacks the teeth I requested.

Psst... it wasn't a free pass. You had to go through Ellis Island to get in, so we'd know who you were and to ensure you weren't bringing diseases with you. About 2% of those entering Ellis Island were rejected and got sent back from whence they came.

Ellis Island was not the only entry point and 2% rejection is very permissive, especially compared to the modern US.

From the left's perspective, open borders is like killing ten birds with one stone.

    1) It quickens the end of the white majority.
    2) It brings in millions of new Democrats, who they can quickly hook up to the government teet.
    3) It eases their liberal guilt about the evilness of America.
    4) It will knock America down a few pegs, bringing us closer in alignment with third world.

The list of benefits from open borders is endless, if you hate America.

I'm a leftist commie bustard, and I'm all for quasi-closed borders. Or at least, merit based migration with a very high minimum. Fluency in English, tertiary qualifications in a field in which there is a need, and the ability to support a family without recourse to welfare. The only exception would be for those belonging to (or from countries which practice) the Religion of Peace. They would be banned from entry, permanently. I really don't care what country people come from, what they look like, what language they speak in the home, or what they eat for dinner. If they meet the criteria and are not associated in ANY WAY with the Religion of Peace, they'd be welcome to come and add the value of their labour to our wealth.

A high minimum merit based entry automatically rules out anyone from a culture not compatible with the West. If it demands fluency in English AND advanced education in dynamic fields, the majority of people meeting such criteria will have already embraced Western culture.

It also has to deal with cheap labor, ever been to a predominantly neo liberal city politically?

They're all filled with businesses utilizing cheap foreign labor as a way to artificially keep wages low domestically. Go to some hipster neo liberal restaurant, bar, or cafe, all staffed with illegal foreign immigrants because business is cheaper that way.

Neo liberals will always do their little public relations spin about human rights provoking emotions and feelings in it all but at the end of the day it is all about money. Open border republicans are no better either...

Because every time somebody talks about limiting foreign immigration or stopping immigration altogether neo liberals are the loudest shouting racism.
