Unfortunately, if we've learned anything over the years, it's righties dismiss the truth using a variety of rationalizations. When they're proven wrong they don't see it as defeat.........they default to their alternate facts............provided to them by the right wing sound machine.
interesting point. i can’t say i disagree. and of course as a trump supporter, i’ve found that to be a two-way street.
As I'm sure you've noticed, once you start a thread it takes on a life of its own. It's the nature of the beast.
I didn't say that Democrats are not afflicted by the same emotional attachment. Anecdote: I went to judge a science/arts fair at my kids' elementary school, one of the projects was on the con man who sold the Eiffel Tower to several people. Obviously, he didn't own the Eiffel Tower. However, the people who were conned couldn't admit it, because they had to save face. The same is true for politicians. People hitch their wagon to a certain politician, only to be sorely disappointed by them down the road. Can they admit they made a mistake? No, because they would lose face because they fell for a person who made too many promises to possibly keep.
Are you saying they're not? And I don't mean 24/7 reality tv fake news channels. But stations who do news as part of overall programming that isn't trying to fill 24/7 with as much National Enquirer type stuff. And I think NPR is very much telling the truth.
Perhaps most have someone on ignore. I have never put anyone on ignore. I may ignore, but I have not used the ignore function. One would miss out on the hysterics and good ole belly laughs if they do that.
Well, the founding of the USA couldn't just disagree. It took a Revolutionary war to settle that dispute. And then less than 100 yrs later, a civil war to settle some other disputes. So, I don't see that it was ever possible in the past, but maybe, if people want to be civil about it, people can agree to disagree.
Not quite or for that matter close. Right now they are selling hate by the bucket load and big government.
I've been a political junkie my whole life. This and places like it allow me to expand on that knowledge.
Unfortunately virtually any disagreement is a gateway to labeling... perceived political position is some of the most interesting labeling I've seen yet. And, of course, once someone has you labeled, well then, you are guilty of all other offenses (and offensiveness) paint to that particular position. Be it family, friends, strangers.... I haven't fully figured out this labeling thing though. Why do people do it? Is it a 'know your fear' thing? If it is X, then I can treat it as 'Y'?
Several others have noted pretty much my reasons also - learning about other views, possibly even tweaking my own views. And, tweaking a few noses, while I'm at it.
Yep. The Right Wing is increasingly the Conspiracy Wing, the political safe haven and legitimization of conspiracy theorists. The fake president is one such person, and I'm not even joking.
I'm here because I like to debate. I like to learn from other people. If someone disagrees with me, that's fine. I'm not here to persuade anyone, to insult anyone or to call anyone names.
