I once did a job in small town someplace in Iowa. I went to a local steak house and ordered dinner. The first thing I noticed was that everyone in the restaurant was YUUUUUUUUGE. It was really noticeable. Then they brought my dinner. Holy crap! Just the football-sized potato was a meal. The salad was enough for four people. There was more food on my plate than I would eat in three meals. Mystery solved.

Good question. I guess my response would be... why are people in urban environments so dependent on each other to survive? They love a big social government, where people are responsible for each other through collectivist failure. Why are these urban elites so stupid to not see that their entire perspective on society, and collectivism, is directly connected to the crime, income disparity, drug use, and failing family unit? I guess in my eyes, I would rather be fat with food I worked for to put in my own mouth, with the capability of taking care of my family on my own rather than some government dependent leech who thinks everybody else has a responsibility to take care of them. But hey, that's just me.

Here's a helpful hint: Because potatoes are comprised of more than 92 percent carbohydrates -- in the form of sugar and starch -- they are relatively high on the glycemic-index scale. The glycemic index rates foods on a scale of 1 to 100 based on how quickly they raise your blood sugar levels. Foods closer to 100 elevate your blood sugar more quickly than foods on the lower end of the scale. Mashed potatoes and boiled white potatoes are 82 and 87 on the glycemic scale, respectively. Each maltose molecule breaks down into two glucose molecules. Maltose is why beer is so bad for people with blood sugar issues. If you don't need the overabundance of energy from the onslaught of carbs, it is snatched up by insulin and goes to fat. Potatoes and potato products are fat fuel. You should eliminate them from your fridge if you want to lose weight. I have seen some fast food burgers, fries, and a shake, that exceed 3000 calories - for one lunch! That is about 50% more than a person should eat in an entire day.
