No, they also check and verify what you said in your application.

Some states wanted to cross reference their registration rolls with other states, but the Obama administration nixed that plan. Wonder why.........

USPS does so have its own criminal investigative and enforcement force. Who do you imagine handles mail fraud?

    https://postalnews.com/blog/2015/05/09/postal-myths-2-the-usps-is-not-a-government-agency/

In a footnote to its most recent report on postal finances, the Congressional Research Service, part of the Library of Congress, had this to say:

The USPS often is mischaracterized as a quasi governmental or private entity. It is neither. The USPS is a government agency that was created by Congress to achieve various public purposes. Federal law defines what products and services the Postal Service may offer. Additionally, the USPS’s employees are federal employees who participate in the Civil Service Retirement System, the Federal Employees Retirement System, and the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program.

The Supreme Court has even weighed in on what being “independent” means for the USPS, in an opinion from 2004:

The PRA’s designation of the Postal Service as an “independent establishment of the executive branch of the Government of the United States,” 39 U. S. C. §201, is not consistent with the idea that the Postal Service is an entity existing outside the Government. Indeed, the designation indicates just the contrary. The PRA gives the Postal Service a high degree of independence from other Government offices, but it remains part of the Government.

That would seem to settle it, wouldn’t it?

Non government entities do NOT have their own federal criminal investigative and enforcement division. Therefore, USPS IS a government entity. Simple, linear logic. SCOTUS agrees - see post #128 :above:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Postal_Inspection_Service

The United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) or the Postal Inspectors, is the law enforcement arm of the United States Postal Service. Its jurisdiction is defined as "crimes that may adversely affect or fraudulently use the U.S. Mail, the postal system or postal employees." The mission of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service is to support and protect the U.S. Postal Service, its employees, infrastructure, and customers by enforcing the laws that defend the nation's mail system from illegal or dangerous use.

    ...

As fact-finding and investigative agents, Postal Inspectors are sworn federal law enforcement officers who carry firearms, make arrests and serve federal search warrants and subpoenas. Inspectors work closely with U.S. Attorneys, other law enforcement agencies, and local prosecutors to investigate postal cases and prepare them for court. For example, on all international mail, Postal Inspectors work closely with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) or U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI); while on domestic mail, Postal Inspectors work closely with state and local law enforcement agencies. There are approximately 1,200 Postal Inspectors stationed throughout the United States and abroad who enforce more than 200 federal laws covering investigations of crimes that adversely affect or fraudulently use the U.S. Mail and postal system.

The USPIS has responsibility to safeguard over 600,000 Postal Service employees and billions of pieces of mail transported worldwide yearly by air, land, rail, and sea.

USPIS was at one time the only investigative agency of the Postal Service; however, with the creation of the USPS Office of Inspector General in 1996, they assumed many duties previously carried out by the USPIS. The USPS OIG conducts independent audits and investigations. Audits of postal programs and operations help to determine whether the programs and operations are efficient and cost-effective. Investigations help prevent and detect fraud, waste, and misconduct and have a deterrent effect on postal crimes.

The OIG primarily took over the Postal Inspection Service's audit function, as well as fraud (against the USPS) waste and abuse.

Since the September 11, 2001, attacks, the USPIS has also investigated several cases where ricin, anthrax, and other toxic substances were sent through the mail. Although the USPIS has a wide jurisdiction, USPIS investigations can be categorized into these seven types of investigative teams and functions:

    1. Fraud: These types of investigation involve crimes that use the mails to facilitate fraud against consumers, business and government. Federal statutes that surround these types of investigations include, mail fraud, and other criminal statutes when they are tied to the mails such as bank fraud, identity theft, credit card fraud, wire fraud, and Internet/computer fraud. Mail fraud is a statute that is used in prosecuting many white collar crimes, this would include, Ponzi schemes, 419 frauds, and other white collar crimes where the mail was used to facilitate the fraud including public corruption (under the "Honest Services" provision of the federal fraud statutes). In the 1960s and 70s, inspectors under regional chief postal inspectors such as Martin McGee, known as "Mr. Mail Fraud," exposed and prosecuted numerous swindles involving land sales, phony advertising practices, insurance ripoffs and fraudulent charitable organizations using mail fraud charges.[6] McGee is credited with assisting in the conviction of former Illinois Governor Otto Kerner on mail fraud charges.
    2. External Crime & Violent Crime Teams: The External Crimes Function of USPIS is a function that investigates any theft of US mail by non employees, assaults of postal employees and theft and robberies of postal property. This function also investigates robberies of postal employees and postal facilities, burglaries of postal facilities, and assaults and murders against postal employees. This investigative function focuses on ensuring that the sanctity and trust in the U.S. Mail system is maintained.
    3. Prohibited Mailing Investigations: Prohibited mailing investigations are USPIS investigations that focus on the prohibited mailing of contraband including: narcotics, precursors and proceeds; child pornography and other sexually prohibited materials; and hazardous materials to include, mail bombs, and nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. The laundering of narcotics and other criminal proceeds through the use of Postal Money Orders is sometimes categorized under this investigative function.
    4. Aviation and Homeland Security: USPIS investigations also include the securing and protecting of transportation of US Mail and any risk that might compromise the security of the homeland because of these mails. Security Audits are conducted by these teams to ensure that postal service maintains facilities secure from not only theft and robberies but also natural and manmade disasters.
    5. Revenue Investigations: USPIS investigates cases where fraudulent practices are conducted by business and consumers that mail items without proper postage or with counterfeit postage and indicia or crimes that defraud the USPS of revenue. Recently, however, they have indicated that they have little interest in pursuing producers of counterfeit stamps.
    6. International Investigations and Global Security: This investigative function ensures that international mail is secured and any international business decisions and campaigns remains safe, and secure. USPIS maintains investigators in the US and in posts around the world for protection, liaison, and intelligence.
    7. Joint Task Force Investigations: USPIS participates in joint task force investigations where laws applicable to the mail service are involved. These cases are often wide-ranging and involve every law enforcement agency of the Federal Government. For example, USPIS participated in the largest count indictment and conviction in NASA history, the Omniplan case, that put seven companies out of business and ended with the conviction of Omniplan owner, Ralph Montijo, on 179 federal crimes.

Define "appreciable fraud". Elections have been so close lately a thousand fraudulent votes here and there can swing an election. Remember the hanging chad recount? Probably you don't because you're too young but you may want to Google it.

Voting in person and requiring identification is the absolute most secure way to vote. Any election methods less than this will result in questionable outcomes.

I'm too young? Wow. I wish. I do like using my senior discount but I'd trade it all in if I could just be 50 again. Now that was a foolish post of yours.

.0004% or about 4 per million.

Trump lies. His cult believes him. March on good soldiers.

Sorry but I can only go by the quality of your post and I judge you to be late teens.People can claim anything in here but the content of their post shines through the BS.
You have admitted to at least some voter fraud made possible by mail in voting though so that's a step forward.

I would like someone to prove to me that hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens did not vote in California alone in 2016.

What about them? How can undeliverable ballots sway the elections?

You guys on the right write these things as if somehow it were "obvious" that they would create some sort of widespread "fraud" that would somehow transform the loser of an election into the winner. It's not obvious. Explain how that would happen. In detail, please.

Ok. So tens of thousands of ballots were mailed, and then get returned to the post office. They are now sitting there in the Post Office. What happens next?

Yeah. It's impossible because it doesn't happen. People just don't falsify somebody else's signature, and risk going to prison, to gain something as small as one more miserly vote. I for one wouldn't even be able to copy somebody else's signature. I'd get caught in a second. There are hundreds of advocacy groups, from both parties and independent, investigating things like whether somebody who is completely disabled with Alzheimer suddenly voted.

To me it's not even a possibility. But if you think it is one, I have a word of advice: don't do it! You might get away with it, but it's more likely you will get caught. And what would you gain if you did get away with it? One vote? God!

If it were even possible, you can be sure that it would be Democrats opposing it. Because even though fanatics might risk going to prison to gain one more miserly vote, normal people would not.

Cult fanatics is not a demographic group that favors Democrats.

There is no "application". Just a ballot request. I has your Name, Address and date of birth. Most people request it when they apply for their license. The "application" is just a box they check.

They obviously check and verify your Name, address and date of birth. But that's it!

What does that have to do with mail-in voting?

I say again: it would appear like you have some mischievous plan in mind that would somehow tip the election in favor of... specifically in favor of Democrats. One in which even Obama is involved. What is that plan? How does it work? Hasn't Q explained that part to you?

Not really. I have explained before. There is no really good way to detect fraud without everyone revealing how they voted and comparing that to their actual ballot. All very illegal of course.

Nice try but you don't have to falsify a signature to fill out your aged dementia ridden parents ballot. Just fill in the boxes and say mom, dad, sign here.

How with a secret ballot, can you be sure that your vote was counted the way you intended? You are counting on everyone being honest. I prefer to make it harder to defraud rather than counting on everyone being honest.

Seriously buddy. Maturity level really shows in peoples post and a child pretending to be an old guy is painfully obvious to actual old guys much like all the " I'm a Vietnam or Gulf War vet fakes". Real vets sniff them out immediately.

And you foresee millions of people who have both mom and dad with dementia who don't mind risking going to prison just for one more vote?... And all of them voting for Democrats?

You know what really affects the elections? The thousands of moms and dads that won't exercise their right to vote because they are at high risk if infected with Covid 19. And that applies to people in both parties.
