i can't say that i'm entirely surprised by this poll's outcome, that half of the respondents would gladly take a vaccine without question. we live in the most over-medicated society the world has ever seen. feeling a bit sad? we've got a pill for that. kids a bit over-active? we've got a pill for that too. got the sniffles? here, have a butt-load of antibiotics. got an upset tummy? well, we have a vast array of pills and potions to solve that problem too. our so-called opioid crisis is largely the product of medical professionals handing out painkillers like candy to a population that thinks "the men in the white coats" can make all the pain go away. every year millions of people dutifully line up for their flu shots. sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but they'll be back in those lines next year and the next and the next... unless the flu they think they're getting vaccinated for kills them first.

you people just don't get it. you're relying on chemicals to do what your body, more often than not, is quite capable of doing for itself. yes, some people may die of the most mundane causes. some underlying weakness will be exploited by a relatively harmless bug and the sniffles will turn into a coffin. sure it's a tragedy, but it is inevitable and the alternative is so much worse. the inevitable is that we pass along those weaknesses to our offspring and they, in turn, pass it on to theirs and on and on. what we end up with is a population so dependent on chemical cures that when something novel comes along it's a disaster.

i'm not saying we should go all darwinian on this sort of thing. i regularly give to a number of medically based charities, especially those that cater to children, and believe that those who are "at risk" should do what they can to lead a healthy life. no, what i object to is that perfectly healthy people go running to their doctor or the emergency room over every little ache and pain, demanding the proper drug to make them feel "normal" again. i liken it to a man with two perfectly usable legs who insists on being pushed around in a wheel chair. sure it's easier than walking, but eventually those muscles are going to atrophy and you become dependent on that chair. so what happens when the wheels fall off? well, the wheels have fallen off and some of us are flailing around on the floor. we've spent so much time and energy cleaning our surroundings and disinfecting everything within reach (generally keeping our wheelchairs nice and shiny) that we have forgotten that the nature of life is to change in new and unexpected ways. well, this one's a doozie. we may be able to fix up the old wheelchair and get underway again, but it is only a matter of time until the wheels fall of again. it may not be easy and it may not be painless, but wouldn't it be better to stand on our own two feet?

Pretty sure the viruses cause the storms. And the vaccines, by building your immunity to the virus, prevents the storm. And according to the CDC, you can safely get the flu and pneumonia vaccine at the same time. Not sure about covid19 as they've yet to develop a vaccine for it.

    Vaccines work people.

    Measles
    Mumps
    Rubella
    Tetanus
    Diphtheria

All eradicated because of vaccines. I will gladly take the Covid shot the moment it becomes available.

It's even stranger because there is very high quality scientific evidence that shows immunity is built primarily through exposure to our environments. One of the first large scale statistical studies done showed, for example, that poorer children were more resistant (on average) to polio than wealthier children. This is a perfect example of building immunity through immersion in the natural world. The immune system was designed by millions of years of evolution to function well without drugs and other chemicals. Humans should be focusing on strengthening their natural defenses against disease. Instead, they're using artificial interventions as crutches that end up doing more harm than good.

Again, why do I need a vaccine when my immune system is more than capable of handling the problem?

A number of vaccines. Each has inherent problems. I will wait as long as possible to see the effects. Haven’t been sick for 11 years after contracting H1N1.

Vaccines work SOMETIMES on SOME people.

For every disease that a vaccine helped control, there is another disease that vaccines had little or no effect on.

    BULLDUST!!!!!

But I tell you what - why don’t you refuse to be vaccinated and risk a nice little disease like Tetanus - it make COVID 19 look like a walk in the park

There's really no convincing evidence that getting a flu shot is any better than simply doing nothing.

Selling flu shots is quite profitable though.

I refused from 20s to 60s and no problem. Now in my 60s it is prudent to get vaccinations and I do besides the usual tetanus.

    Err yes there is

Governments around the world monitor this independently adjusting the vaccine according to the most prevalent strains

Look why would governments waste money on something that doesn’t work?

Often the flu shot misses the mark entirely like the last flu season that saw 61k+ deaths here.

Did you not read what I said?

Vaccines work SOMETIMES on SOME people.

That means SOME vaccines are beneficial.

But the DECISION to get a vaccine should be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Personally, I see zero reason for me to get a COVID vaccine any time soon. My immune system is more than capable of handling the problem. This is probably true for 99% of the population.

No, not really. Governments are not scientific organizations. Governments are not organized around scientific principles. So unless there is huge amounts of independent study to corroborate government findings and guidelines, they should be viewed with a heavy dose of skepticism at the very least.

    Is that a serious question?

No but places like here in Australia we hire scientists not political hacks and we listen to them? But that is the difference we don’t think our governments are trying to kill us

Meanwhile we DO have a healthier longer lived population thanks mostly to a UHC

Will you expose your little kids to the living conditions which would expose them to polio?

As you get older, your immune system doesn’t work as efficiently as it does when you are twenty.
