That comment was not meant for you, it was meant for Blinda Vaganto, no need to get upset about my back & forth's with someone else or stick your nose where it doesn't belong.

And yet you continue with the insults, and you still haven't made an attempt to answer any of the questions.

I brought up the link because he's a republican who shows, with relevant evidence of precedent, how close to fascism the general conservative mood is.

What the yapping partisans are yelling about I've no idea so can't help you there. Throw some cake at them. That usually works for a while.

I understood your post as arguing that Obama's plan to let tens of thousands of Syrians in is not dangerous for America. I firmly believe it is.

    Ok, fair enough.....

We're on opposite sides of it but I appreciate the fact that your concerned about it.

I don't think you'll have much too worry about as it looks like fear & paranoia has won the day.

It doesn't look like we'll be receiving as much as Europe has taken in, and once again.......

We've managed to show the world just how selfish, reclusive, and isolated we are or care to be regarding world humanitarian disasters.

    Go us........

Three Presidents: Click this link either before you read what is written below or NOW:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Wetback What is your opinion?

    Three Presidents (Democrat & Republican)

No one in either party has the courage to do this today.

What did Presidents Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower have in common?
(This is something that should be of great interest for you to pass around.

I didn't know of this until it was pointed out to me.)

Back during the great depression, Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation

of ALL illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American citizens

    that desperately needed work.

Harry Truman deported over two million illegal aliens after WWII to create

    jobs for returning veterans.

In 1954 Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million illegal Mexicans. The

program was called Operation Wetback. It was done so WWII and Korean

War veterans would have a better chance at jobs. It took two years, but

    they deported them!

Now, if they could deport the illegal aliens back then, they could surely do

it today. If you have doubts about the veracity of this information, enter

Operation Wetback into your favorite search engine and confirm it for

    yourself.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Wetback

Why, you might ask, can't they do this today? Actually the answer is quite

simple. Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower were men of honor, not

    untrustworthy politicians looking for votes!

And Reminder: Don't forget to pay your taxes - 12 to 20 million illegal

aliens - are depending on it..

Hundreds of millions are living in desperate conditions around the world. America can't save them all by taking them in. But America can save the world by fighting corruption and defending freedom and human rights at home and abroad. It is not easy but that is the only way.

I'm going to abridge the rest of what you typed out - and simply say what you're talking about is immigration and illegal immigration. Applications for refugee status is not the same thing, so I'm afraid you're discussing a different topic than is contained in this thread and different from what I was commenting on.

Not good enough, so I guess you're out of gas.

I do like that video, though. Obama seems really angry, and an angry Obama means he is losing his power. Hillary babbling was also funny. She's not particularly angry, but she is basing her chance to win on people not really hating Obama. So if he lifts a butt cheek and rips out a fart, she has to say it smells like a rose garden.

Believe it or not I'm with you, hell I agree with you damn near 100%.

Admittedly we missed an opportunity to get all over this a long time ago the same way we've missed many opportunities for the last 30 years to repair relationships with most of the regions throughout the Middle East.

Our obsessive, mostly "fake" support for Israel doesn't help because as you know Arabs & Jews have been at each others throats from the beginning of time, and taking a position to constantly support (people that are doing fine on their own) only throws gas on the fire. It sends a message, and it doesn't make us look impartial or honest.

I say "fake" support, because of our chicken-sh*t politicians (on both sides of the aisle) that only prop up Israel because of the strong & age-old Jewish power brokers & funders in this country.

I guarantee you that if all of the Middle East were filled with Jews, and the small piece of land that is Israel were filled with Arabs along with many powerful & wealthy Arab political types living in this country.............that entire script would be flipped, and don't believe for one second that it wouldn't be.

In other words if everything were flipped and we had allied ourselves with Arabs as the minority instead of Israel as the majority things would be different, and it would be the Jews pissed of at us.................with good reason.

Arabs mostly don't trust us because they almost all believe that we are constantly in league with Israel to destroy them, and that Israel plays us like puppets as we do their bidding.

This isn't an anti-Israel rant, its just a summation of a backdrop of why we have "some" of the problems we have in the Middle East. No doubt though I'm sure I'll get pounced on thoroughly once I hit "post" even though I've stated that this is not an anti-Israeli rant.

Yes, President Obama dropped the ball on Syria, and I've admitted that many times, but the fact remains that we are where we are, regardless of how we got here.

The entire world has stepped up to the plate on this Syrian thing, and we "were" on board to do our share of the heavy lift as well (mostly) without the American public up in arms about it.

I think what bugs me the most is that we reacted the way we always do, we panicked - mostly over miscommunications & erroneous facts that weren't even solidified yet, and then even after the facts came out about non-Syrian involvement we stuck to our fear & paranoia over an entire race of people who were not involved.

I'm not saying that there aren't any terrorist's in Syria, I'm not saying that there is no potential for terrorists to try to sneak in with the refugees, I'm not even saying that every single terrorist in Syria is from outside of the country. (while it's true that most of them are)

All I'm saying is that we've basically gone back on our word because of this tragedy in France, we punked out, we lost our spines, and we're letting mass hysteria & fear (that's mostly unfounded and flies in the face of the track record we've had screening immigrants) set the tone of the debate.

Something tells me that you can write a much more eloquent, articulate, and intelligent reply than that, I thought you were above that type of low-budget stuff.

If my words can't at least begin to make you see things from a different perspective that cool, but there's no need for the Glen Beck style repartee, and I know from your previous reply's you can do much better.

Yes, unfortunately, nearly every time this empty-suit nothingness opens his mouth, he provides yet more evidence that he doesn't consider, doesn't study, doesn't absorb, doesn't learn, and doesn't even comprehend anything beyond the borders of his astonishly limited mentality and awareness. I certainly didn't vote for this nothingness, and I marvel that anyone with a triple-digit IQ actually did....

BTW, got anything to say about the fact that your wonderous President Brainfart had announced to the world that ISIS was contained, one stinking day before the Paris tragedy...? I think if I were (or ever had been) an Obama supporter, now I'd be puking my guts out at the mere thought of my own recurring gullibility and unquestioning simple-mindedness.... :cynic: -- "Oh yeah... this guy's definitely a racist!"

    Have a charming evening!

I appreciate your confidence, but the thing missing in that article is a moral imperative to accept what I consider to be an unacceptable risk.

Why should a single refugee be allowed into the country? Perhaps a moral imperative to accept and help people in need? Well, let's take a look around the world and figure out if there are people in even more need. For example, are there are any homeless children in India? Why yes, there are a few. A few hundred thousand, and they are suffering from malnutrition.

I think he's up to something sneaky, and that's the final stake in this refugee coffin. He has done everything possible to alienate any trust I might have once had for the guy, so even if he wanted a glass of water before going to bed, I wouldn't give him one. The chances are that if he doesn't throw it in my face, he'll wet the bed.

Fair enough, I accept the fact that the president has lost the confidence of quite a few.

I also accept the fact that there are other major moral imperative's in the world besides the Syrian Refuge issue.

You and I both want what's best for the country, of that I have no doubt.

I continue to believe in the abilities or our government to screen these people properly "if" they are allowed in which is looking les & less likely everyday.

Lets just both watch it all unfold and see where the chips fall..................

I would also add that since a majority of these refugees are muslim, then I am afraid to say that I cannot be in favor of letting them infest the country any more than it already is. I have had dealings with musims before, and while they usually seem like very nice people, there is a side to each and every one of them that I have dealt with that cannot live with freedom of speech, and people who would dishonor their religion.

This inherent inability to accept something so innocuous as a cartoon of their god or prophet is in them all. That is something that makes them unfit to live with western europeans, who have a long history of coming to terms with accepting individual freedom of thought and expression.

As nice as most are, they are unfit for a civil society that differs from their own.

I don't know where you live, but here in the UK it won't be very much longer before there's a mosque on every street corner; and if you had your way I'm sure they'd all be sending out the call to prayer 5 times a day from amplifiers cranked up to a zillion dB. Sorry, I can't communicate with liberals because it sets my BP soaring and it ain't good for my health! How I loathe liberals!! [IMG]

Fair enough but you forgot to mention the former powers that took intrest in the ME during WW1 and the current powers since WW2, USA does not operate alone here and perhaps wouldnt at all if the USSR didnt and Russia of today. in other words the US can withdraw its support from Israel and it wouldnt change the Arab attitude because of the Sunni-Shia feud, the Russians , the Chinease and the US has laws about trading with its enemies proxies - meaning the hate will remain.
The US recognized a gap in the ME (Israel) and got in, it didnt create the gap - in fact the US asked the UN to name another mandetor to Palestine after the Brits announced they will leave, thus postopning or perhaps even killing the Jewish indipendance dream.

Year, you have made some points here... But, excuse me, when you talk about Arab countries are you talking about people who live there or people who rule there? Arab official policy is to destroy state of Israel. Israel just wants to be left alone. Now you are saying America should be more supportive for Arab demands and less for ones of Israel. My opinion that is allready happening as America pushes Israel day and night to return Arabs territories from which they attacked Israel without any concern for Israel security.

I tell you truly, Centrist, that I find neither happiness nor victory in exchanges like ours. I most sincerely wish that every President of the United States could be a successful one who's firmly in harmony with our Constitution, always seeking peace and prosperity for our citizens, and vigilant in defending this nation from all enemies "foreign and domestic".

But, if I had a dollar bill for ever time I've made reference to "Idiot Bush" AND "Idiot Obama" during the eight years I've been posting in this forum, I'd have enough to buy us both dinner at the Brown Palace in Denver. Believe it or not, my disappointment in Republicans is almost equal to my disgust with hyperliberal Democrats. My only hope now is that we don't have yet another disastrous presidential administration with yet a third "idiot". We definitely don't need to resurrect the spectre of the "Three Stooges" in American government. Cheers!

I do get what your saying regarding some of them not having the ability to co-exist with others or be comfortable in a democratic society where people have freedom of speech. Yes it is true that certain compartments of our Western lifestyle offend many of them.

Funny thing is the same things that give them heartburn about the way we live align pretty much with all the things conservatives hate.

Abortion, reckless marriages, fatherless or mother less homes, adultery, etc. etc. etc.

Most of them see non-Muslims as Kafir's (non-believers). A large majority of that lot leave it at calling us Kafir's and would never raise a hand in violence, but unfortunately you have the fanatical ones that feel as though it is their duty to either convert us or strike us down.

Like you I have spent much time around them, but my experiences have mostly gone very well, and they weren't momentary exchanges or limited pieces of time. I've forged friendships that have lasted for years and they are genuine friendships.

I totally get where your coming from, and I admit (as I always have) that Muslims are no easy road, nor are they "user friendly" I 'll grant you that.

My position is, as much as I am concerned about terror attacks everywhere, I am also concerned about the world trying to totally dismiss or alienate any race of people because a few or a large portion of them are twisted. What do we do with them, have we the right to do anything at all, have fanatical Muslims reached a point where its acceptable to kill every single one of them all over the world?

America's hands are not clean regarding the Middle East, and while we are not fully responsible for all of it's problems or for creating these lunatics that love chopping off heads, we are culpable to a certain degree, even if that degree is marginal.

My bottom line is that 99.9% of the people trying to get out of Syria are running away from the same people everybody wants to destroy......ISIS, Daesh, Al Nusra, Al Qaeda, whatever flavor of the month name they wish to call themselves.

Exactly what makes us so afraid to think that these very people whose lives have been smashed by terrorist will run to join them once they get here?

The belief that every single one of them is evil incarnate or secretly a terrorist is just insane. Respectfully Sir I would say that using words like "infest the country" doesn't help the dialog. I respect the fact that they give you pause but applying those types of terms to humans trying to get out of Hell degrades the conversation and causes strife between us & them .

They are not bed bugs, ticks or roaches, they're people, they're people just like you & me with hopes, dreams, aspirations, fears, doubts, joys and sorrows. And right now their sorrows outweigh ours about a billion to one.

Seems to me like everybody has already decided that either every single one of these refugees is a Muslim, or that every single one of them is a terrorist, or that every single one of them will be convert to the dark side & become a terrorist.

The word "Muslim" has become the new four letter word, and painting every single one of them as a crazed jihadist thirsty for American blood is irresponsible & ridiculous.

Look, I don't know what the answer is, I don't know what to do about the fanatics that have hijacked Islam, I don't know how to convince people that not every Muslim walking the planet is a potential Osama Bin Laden, I am not in love with all things Islam nor am I in love with all Muslims.

I'm hopeful that all of these people suffering, and the children that keep washing up on shores dead from drowning in boats - ends.........soon.

Before you judge me too harshly for my opinions on this or decide that I am being totally naïve you have to realize that I personally know what it's like to be on the receiving end of negative scrutiny based on skin color or place of origin.

I can sympathize a bit more than most because I know what it's like to be charged guilty before you've ever opened your mouth.

I know what it's like for your race of people to be a four letter word for most.

Take from that what you will, and I appreciate the civil back & forth we're having on this.

We should be questioning why our government wants to add all these refugees supported by the people until they get settled in? Our government does nothing out of the kindness of their heart, they are getting something in return for this so what is it?
