Well the one that is here now I would guess holds about 500-1000 people. Other smaller mosques were closed down. Before the building was converted the area was a slum. The abanded building had been closed for several years. People would avoid walking through the area at night. It was next to a council estate. Vandalism and graffiti everywhere. Now the area is one of the safest in this district. The only trouble that occurs is when the EDL decide to picket the entrance followed by the mandatory graffiti painted onto the doors at a night closely following day of the demonstration. EDL seems to have given up - probably because Luton is too far to travel from and not get completely drunk by the time they arrive after that long journey! They always timed their demonstrations with our football team playing at home which was a pain for some of our fans because the police closed roads for the 5 man demonstrations.

Looking at the pictures in your link, it looks like that area has also been cleaned up which is good. That seems to be a common theme.

What a good idea that'd be - planning consent to build a mosque on every grotty area In every village, town and city in the country just to make them safe areas to be.
