what does who they battle have to do with who they are lol? if you havent noticed Captain America hasnt changed his persona, he is just brought into now. he is still the same old humble and respectful man who uses his powers for good lol. Batmans persona is still not changed, he is batman. in a sense he has always been dark and in the movies he is basicaly fighting against the same people, its just a darker ersion of what we have seen before. his persona hasnt changed. when they reboot characters they make minor changes really, they dont stray far from the comics.
This is...true. However, Marvel still writes better characters than DC. I read the gay blurb for Green Lantern and it was totally cheesy. I hate DC comics. They've created like three good characters: the Dark Knight Batman, Catwoman, and Harley Quinzel. Marvel has all the best characters.
So that is what "matters"? The things YOU loved as a kid? The things YOU, personally, are NOT don't "matter"? ALL kids DIFFERENT than YOU "DON'T MATTER"? Indeed, these insights into the Right Wing mind are depressing, at best! What a place to have to live every day! And seeing someone gay in a comic book is "creeping pedophilia"? If that is true, then how are Archie and Veronica, Lois Lane and Superman etc. NOT "pedophilia"?
I take it you never where your wedding ring in public, walk while holding hands with your wife, or kiss in public do you? If you do, you need to stop pushing what your doing on everyone else.
I have to agree here. Marvel has always had better characters. The exception being Dark Knight Batman and some one-off miniseries like the Watchmen. Superman was always pretty dull -- which is what happens when your guy is invincible. Green Lantern? Okay, alien cops. But all he's really got is a ring. Whoop-de-doo. Flash? I run really fast! Wheee!! Wonder Woman? heaps of cheese in one place: bullet-proof bracelets, golden lasso of truth, a bustiere for a costume -- and an invisible jet. I always liked Green Arrow, though. The "Longbow Hunters" miniseries was excellent.
Agreed. I have always preferred Marvel as well, although the "Death of Superman" storyline got me hooked onn Superman for years afterwards. I still like Superman and Batman...but for the most part, yeah I prefer Marvel. Grew up on Marvel Comics. Fantastic Four, Iron man, Captain America were some of my favs. I checked out the link to that GL blurb someone provided, might have been yours...and yeah, total cheese. Personally I thought it was going to bomb no matter who it was...it just feels forced. And to see them acknowledge that by not really risking much...well, not sure how long this one will run. Might be "alpha Flightish".
I think they're "tweaking" him a bit. Cant recall where I read it recently, but small changes to the costume, and his powerset to make him a little less godlike, and less of the boredom that comes from being untouchable. Might coincide with the new film coming. And it gets even worse for him when you realize Superman can run faster LOL.
They lost me when they started having different kinds of Kryptonite with different effects -- and couldn't explain how a guy could be deathly allergic to the substance of his home planet. It was a ham-handed way to make their character not totally invincible. Oh, and Krypto the Super Dog didn't help. LOL! Hadn't thought of that.
When will Veronica come out as a prostitute... or Flash come out as a polygamist... or Aqua Man come out as incestuous... Where's the outrage about this behavioral bigotry?!
I always thought it would be Aquaman that came out of the closet. I do find this incredbly lame, though. I'm really tired of the entertainment industry pushing all this politically correct crap on the public. You know what would be cool? A super hero that stood up to PC social norms. It would be hilarious. He'd grab little Jimmy who was questioning his sexuality and whisk him off to a titty bar. "Here, son. We'll fix you. Get this boy a lap dance!"
Yeah, seemed to be an abundance of the stuff too. Who knew that when krypton exploded all the fragments shot in a line towards Earth, to be picked up by his various villians. But I guess they had to use it, since they made that his only weakness. HAHHA...no...Superdog did not help at all. Total cheese.
The sexual behavior misfit crowd makes up about 3.8% of the population.... the GLBT mafia and Hollywood bullhorns would have you believe they represent a majority.
I have not read comics in years. Although the passion displayed to be upset over homosexual comic book characters. It is interesting. My avatar? Seemed like a good idea at the time.
It's a time-frame issue. So changing someone's birthdate by 60 years isn't a significant change to the character? In the Dark Knight comics he's a *much* different character, far more vigilante than superhero. It really depends. And let's not get started on the villains. General Zod, for instance, has something like a dozen different incarnations.
Okay, I did like Oliver, too...and Dark Knight Batman, especially the when he came out of retirement and fought Superman. Other than that, Marvel has done some really great story lines. Rogue's inability to touch the people she loves. Magneto's ambiguity. I like how they made Mjolnir a trapped Valkyrie that loves Thor, hence why she always comes when he calls to her. I love Spiderman's wit, Captain America's sense of leadership and patriotism, and the female characters, while busty, were at least very much unique and cool. I mean...the Phoenix???? Also...our villains. Thanos's crush on "Death", Loki's interactions with Thor, Magneto's affection for Charles...they are awesome in their depth. Make mine marvel. OH...and Apocalypse. LOVE IT!!!
