Comics just don't sell like they used to. When I was a kid, it was fairly common for kids to buy and read comics. Of course there were comic stands in every 7-ll. Now they are only sold in some bookstores and specialty comics shops. Among my kid's friends, none of them read comics. Only a tiny subset of kids are really even aware of them. The current audience are probably middle aged. And this sort of marketing will have no effect. No gay people are going to start flocking to read comics because a minor character is now out.

Catwoman has been a lesbian for years, and I doubt that brought in a lesbian readership.

don't like it? don't watch it. or better yet, write the pilot for your own tv show that features lots of buff straight men and big chested straight women.... sell the concept to the networks, and then produce it. otherwise... quit whining.

I have no problem with giving them the same rights as married couples and I don't think many do. It's just since many finally came out of the closet, now they want to keep pushing their life style in our face. Now they even have their own gay parade and super hero. Lets hope the Green Hornet doesn't catch aids

I like the show. I like the singing and dancing. I wouldn't mind if two on the show were gay. I think they have gone overboard having at least 5 regulars as being gay. How far do they have to push it?

Lol, you're upset that characters on a show about singing and dancing in glitter doesn't feature enough straight people singing and dancing in glitter?

Here is what I know: they will push it until their producers and the network executives see internal audience polling data that says they have pushed it too far. As long as the audience is there and the revenue is still there... the show will continue with a winning formula.

We won't. The thing is. They have to steal hero's from straights because they don't have the creativity to make their own superhero. Sucks to be you.

Why don't they come up with Rainbow Warrior? See it's not hard to make something for you people. He can even screw himself while he's fighting crime.

No one is forcing homosexuality on anyone. Its a comic book, you don't have to buy it.

Its the idea that pop culture is trying to normalize homosexuality in some false idea that constant exposure to it will somehow make society change its ways.

Its backdoor social engineering by media.

You know what they "push" way more than sex? Violence, and comic book violence is very graphic to make up for the lack of movement and sound.
But I bet that having a character like the Punisher making people's heads explode with an automatic weapon doesn't worry you at all.
What is it with right-wingers and sex? Why are they all so intolerant and homophobic?

The people who created these comics have every right to make one of their characters gay.

LMAO...At least "homos" know how to use the possessive apostrophe.
Homophobes, on the other hand, are in deep denial, so it's understandable that they would project their gender insecurities outward and try to blame others for their mental issues.

Not a posessive. A shortening. From Homosexuals to Homo's. Get with it. By the way. Typical loser response. Pick at grammar when you have nothing.

    Not projecting anything but laughter.

And I have every right to tell them what I think about their complete lack of guts and creativity. Rainbow Warrior would have sufficed as a new character just like Green Arrow did for the introduction of black characters. Woman up.

This is true, but why make him gay? That's messed up. Let the gays have their own superheros, like SuperFlamer, Back-Door Avenger or Poleman?

LMAO...No, sonny, it's not a possessive, nor a shortening, nor a contraction. It's just plain illiteracy. Deal with it.
As for your "content", it's nothing more than the usual right-wing tripe that has been discredited time and time again.

    Again,

who here besides me actually reads comics???

On this thread, I've been told that in spite of the fact that there is only a small child section in each comic book store that they are "for kids". This is not true. Sonic the Hedgehog, Archie, TMNT, the Avengers...these are kids comics for the most part. As to the rest it is people in their twenty and thirty-somethings who are/were fangurls and fanboys who still love their stuff buying comics that are geared towards them.

This really truly has nothing to do with anyone who doesn't purchase comics.

I think diet coke tastes like crap. I think HFC is an awful toxin put in everything. I'm not going to get angry at Coke and tell them to change the recipe because other people do enjoy it. When your comic that you read and love is changed completely and the canon destroyed then I'll support you, but this is not that. They did an alternate universe (Earth 2) and made an older character gay because it won't hurt the major storylines.

If anything gays should be angry because they were sold a major character, so they thought "title" and basically they relegated it to the "bizarro", ie one possible universe.

Many here seeme to have read comics here but moved on in different points of their lifes. As for myself. I liked the ultra violence and the deepness of writers like: Toshio Maeda. And artists (Naoko Takeuchi) who inspirred true greats in the genre.

Huh? You're trying to compare government using force to change someone's behavior or take their money with a citizen exercising their first amendment right to free speech by giving their opinion?

It appears you need to do some learning about comparisons and analogies.
