Quicksliver and Scarlett Witch have had an incestuous relationship in the past. You really aren't aware of the subjects that comics have already covered.
Let me explain as best I can how I feel about this subject and "outsiders" weighing in on comics. Until maybe the last 6 years, comics have been the refuge of the nerd or geek. They were a place you could escape to when the rest of the world was just "too much". The weekly, monthly stories enabled you to grow up and grow with these characters and they served a purpose to the world of the uncool. Gay kids, at least at my school, were picked on and made fun of. Where was their "escape"? By having a gay hero, they had their outlet away from the rest of the mean world. There's no "boning" in superhero comics. You know people date and get married. You know some have kids. You don't see any nudity in superhero comics. So, if Marvel or DC want to create gay heroes for gay kids that are picked on or made fun of...its keeping with the tradition of being a safe place to hang out. Gay characters are not in every comic so if your child likes comics and you don't want them reading about gay characters don't buy that one. You guys wish that people would stop pushing the "gay agenda", I wish people who didn't read comics and don't support the industry with weekly Wednesday subscriptions would quit trying to force what they want on the people that pay money for them.
Yea...sorry..I may have spoken out of turn. I haven't kept abreast of the genre's twists and turns... kinda put them away 40 years ago....when I was about 10.
Yes, outgrown. But i can sort of remember this. Back in the day i liked, Urotsukidoji. And other greats.
How many kids can afford hundreds of thousands for a comic book? http://www.bleedingcool.com/2012/02/02/first-appearance-thor-journey-into-mystery-83-record-222200/ If comics were the sole domain of children they wouldn't be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Moreover, explain who has the money for a $222,200 comic book besides the ultra-successful?
Who knew unopened "mint" action figures would one day fetch a handsome sum? Beenie Babies? Baseball cards? ....who knew any of the cheap crap marketed to children would one day become a tradable commodity on the collector circuit?
But it's not kids who are buying them now And $220,200 is not an investment anymore. That's peak. Someone who is rich loves Thor.
Suffice it to say that since about 1980, comics have grown more mature as their primary audience have grown older. They have already covered adults themes for decades.
Perhaps...I'd say the lionshare of tradable comics are hermetically sealed and never read.. I'd even go so far to say that traders are aren't even interested in their storylines or characters....just their rarity.
what time frame issue???? they didnt change Captain Americas birthday lol. if you paid attention he still kicked the (*)(*)(*)(*) out of the Nazi's. he was just frozen after a crash into an iceberg during WWII, they found him and brought him back. are they all not vigilante's lol??? they arent the law. id say he is a more dark than previous Batman's, but if you check the persona's and the background they are all still pretty much the same. wouldnt really know about that, didnt really follow Superman and the only time i saw General Zod was when Christopher Reeves handed him his ass lol.
Well, then there is HBO. I swear I don't think a show can air on that channel without providing a specific minimum number of gay scenes. I stopped watching Spartacus because I was tired of burly gladiators butt-(*)(*)(*)(*)ing one another.
I actually gave up reading - and caring about - comic books and comic book heroes along about the eighth grade. I am bemused at all these adults here who apparently did not.
Are you gay? I'm not disparaging, but you were going through puberty when Linda Carter stuffed herself into that suit.
lol sorry but i love Spartucus eventhough there was a good amount of man on man bang going on,but the action and the naked hotties more than made up for it. hell one of the funniest things i have ever seen in a show has to do with a bi-sex scene, i was laughing so hard my rib cage was seriously tender the next day lol.
This made me crack up. I got it on DVD so can skip those scenes. I can't imagine trying to watch that show without it. I haven't read a comic in 20 years, but from memory, when compared to Marvel, all DC characters were gay. Regardless if they came out or not.
I reckon it would be fantastic if a major super-hero came out gay, it would be a really good thing for young gays to have this kind of endorsement. But I'm thinking that kids actually read this stuff. I'm not sure whether kids still read comics.
If you don't like it. . .don't read it, don't watch it, just put your head in the sand and pretend that gays do no exist, or that they are not human, so they don't fall under the "equal rights" law. But. . .you should be aware that, once you pull your head out of the sand, gays will still be there, and that equal rights will win over bigotry!
They did pull sort of a bait and switch. Virtually no one in the media who originally reported the story has probably heard of the Earth 2 version of Green Lantern. If they had, they would never have given this any press at all. It's a minor character in a minor alternate universe. Congrats gay people.
