Here's the rest of the headline that wouldn't fit in the thread title. Number Grew 18% Since Obama Took Office in 2009 I guess Obama failed on the economy along with everything else from the middle east to his reset button with Russia. The last eight years have been Jimmy Carter part two and we can only hope that Trump is Reagan part two. (CNSNews.com) - Barack Obama's presidency began with a record number of Americans not in the labor force, and it's ending the same way. "The final jobs report of the Obama presidency, released Friday, shows that the number of Americans not in the labor force has increased by 14,573,000 (18.09 percent) since January 2009, when Obama took office" http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article...-labor-force-number-grew-18-obama-took-office
Yes. That number grew because the population grew. And you people count retirees and children. And the Corporate State has shipped countless jobs overseas. Only a king can prevent that. And yet you still yearn for the days of Bush, when 800,000 Americans were loosing their jobs each month.
Don't forget the growth of numbers of people who gave up looking for jobs and the growth in food stamp recipients but I do agree corporations have been fleeing Obama's business unfriendly environment in droves and Trump is already at work on that.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/189068/bls-unemployment-seasonally-adjusted.aspx How do you reconcile this disparity with the Obama admins #'s ?
Let's just sit back on this. Watch from month to month in 2017 as the number continues to grow and the right-wingers magically start forgetting that it even exists...
True enough, what jobs were created on Obama's watch were largely part time and low wage - - - Updated - - - I agree, just sit back and watch as Trump policies take hold and these numbers turn around
This is true even though i wouldn't of bet on it. Learned something. http://www.cbpp.org/research/the-relationship-between-snap-and-work-among-low-income-households
There's no real disparity. The BLS reports those numbers, they're just not typically reported by the media and it's been that way for decades. Did people clamor about the LPR when Bush was president?
I wonder if any of the 156,000 job creations for the month of December included some of them? Good OBarry jobs like Santa's at malls, Santa's ringing bells for donation pots, counter help to sell perfume, waiters and waitresses to help during the holiday company parties, you know OBarrynomics!
How can you say things like that an look in the mirror? Under Obama we gained 11 million jobs. Under Bush we lost 338,000. Can you say "11.5 million jobs" better than Bush?
I can say what the OP says because it's fact. The number of Americans not in the labor force went up 18% on Obama's watch. His anemic low wage part time job creation lost ground to population growth and one of the many reasons why is his immigration policy and his love affair with illegals in this country
Dude - the Baby-Boomers hit retirement age. Economists have been saying for decades that this was going to happen no matter who was President. And the number of illegal residents has basically remained the same since Bush was in office. Want somebody to blame - blame Reagan for giving 3 million illegals amnesty.
As baby boomers retire the population grows and Obama policies have smothered economic growth so things don't the balance out. Evidence of this is all the snowflakes whinning about no jobs to be had and living with mom and dad at 30 years old. - - - Updated - - - I've decided to not answer post that start with "Dude" and end with Reagan. It's a new rule of mine.
As boomers retire, they should be replaced by someone else who gets replaced by someone else. That isn't really happening. The end result is declining participation. Anybody who writes off almost 100 million Americans as "snowflakes" should be more judicious in their use of the word "whinning".
"Cnsnews.com" is obviously one of those Fake news sites therefore is insulting all of us intelligent members of ge forum so why do you post such nonsense? THINK !
To rephrase op. Record number of Americans under 18. Record number of Americans over 65 and retired. As long as those numbers go up so will the number of not working.
Things were fine under Bush until the Dems took congress and the sending plus they set off the bomb planted by Clinton with the housing bubble and thats why the economy tanked. Bad government regulations The fact is less able bodied adults are not working now than in decades going by percentages Children under 16 are not and were never counted as part of the labor force so more children means nothing, besides there are less children percentage wise these days than in the 50s or 60s
By golly those slackers in high school need to get out there and work. And you boomers if you don't have the decency to die at 72 then sign on at Walmart, they'll give you tips on food stamps.
Another wording of op, record number of people in the workforce. As long as the population grows that will be the case, except when unemployment grows like under Bush.
Again if your under 16 you were never considered part of the work force and are not part of the statistics
